Types of Invitations

• Formal Invitations: Polite, pleasant, and courteous.

o Printed Invitation Cards:

▪ Used for large gatherings like weddings.

▪ Same message sent to all guests.

▪ Example: Wedding cards.

o Formal Letters:

▪ Handwritten, addressed to VIPs or special guests.

▪ Personalized for each invitee.

▪ Example: Invitations to judges or principals for events.

• Informal Invitations:

o Personal Letters:

▪ Used to invite friends and relatives.

▪ Relaxed, informal tone.

▪ Example: Birthday parties or family gatherings.

Format of Formal Printed Cards

• Structure: Centrally aligned, no punctuation, uses various fonts.

• Content: Includes the host’s name, event purpose, date, time, venue, and RSVP details.

• Language: Formal, third-person pronouns; first-person pronouns are prohibited.

Formal Letters of Invitation

• Purpose: Used for inviting special guests or heads of institutions.

• Structure: Follows a regular formal letter format.

• Language: Formal, allows first and second-person pronouns.

Replies to Invitations

• Formal Replies:

o Written in third person, concise, formal in tone.

o Format does not follow regular formal letters.

o Includes acceptance or regret and reason for refusal.
