Design Criteria

The document outlines the design criteria for precast walls, referencing key structural codes and standards. It specifies design loads including dead loads, live loads, earthquake, and wind loads, along with material requirements for precast concrete and reinforcing steel bars. The document emphasizes that the design of main reinforcement and dowel bars must account for specific load conditions and material strengths.

1.0 REFERENCES
1.1 National Structural Code of the Philippines, Volume 1 Buildings, 7th Edition 2015
1.2 Building Code Requirement For Reinforced Concrete (ACI 318-19)
1.3 ASEP Steel Handbook, 2004

2.0 DESIGN LOADS

2.1 DEAD LOADS
2.1.1 Concrete ----------------------- 25.40 kN/cum
2.1.2 Steel ----------------------- 77.00 kN/cum
2.2 LIVE LOAD
2.2.1 Service Live Load ----------------------- 20% of Windload (Impact Load)
2.3 EARTHQUAKE
2.3.1 Zone 4 ----------------------- Z = 0.40
2.4 WIND LOAD
2.4.1 Wind Velocity, Zone 2 ----------------------- V = 290 kph
see Figure 207A.5-IA,B or C
2.5 Other loadings shall be in accordance with NSCP requirements and specifications
2.6
2.6.1 For design of main reinforcement of PC Wall, only wind load + impact load (20%) will govern since its
laterally acting on the surface area of the wall.

- Dead Load or weight of the wall panel itself is not applicable since its oriented vertically downward.
2.6.2 a) For the design of dowel bars / connectors of PC Wall, moment produced by dead load, wind load or
earthquake load will induce tensile and compression stresses on the dowel bars thus, it should be design to
resist those stresses.

3.0 MATERIALS AND DESIGN STRESSES

3.1 PRECAST - Shall have minimum compressive strength at 28 days:
3.1.1 Conventional Reinforced Concrete ------------------- f'c = 27.60MPa

3.2 REINFORCING STEEL BARS

3.2.1 Shall have minimum yield stregth
for bars Ø10 mm and smaller ------------------ fy = 276.00MPa
for bars Ø12 mm and bigger ------------------- fy = 415.00MPa

Precast Department
3.2.2 ShallHead
be in accordance with ASTM Designation and Specifications.
