Our team comprising a tax specialist Senior Advocate of Nigeria


and a Professor of Tax Law, who offers both dispute avoidance

The team has acted in high level matters throughout Nigeria, in


the Tax Appeal Tribunal, High Court, Court of Appeal and the
Supreme Court.

Professor M.T. Abdulrazaq, (SAN)
Senior Partner
Professor Muhammed Taofeeq ABDULRAZAQ is a Senior
Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), a Professor of Taxation, and a Senior
Partner of Probitas Partners LLP.

Taofeeq’s extensive knowledge in tax spans a period of over 40


years. His tax experience covers the full range of services in
Corporate Tax Advisory Services, Indirect Tax Services, Tax
Litigation Support Services and Tax Administration Reform and
Capacity Building. He has been involved in several litigations
and is variously cited by the Courts as an authority on Nigerian
tax law.

He was Partner / Regional Tax Leader, Ernst & Young (West


Africa) and had also worked at Deloitte as Director, Tax Services
and at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) as Senior Tax Manager.
He had also been the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the
Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) and was a
member of the Value Added Tax (VAT) Tribunal.

He was Adjunct Professor and Pioneer Provost of the Chartered


Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) Academy and was the
Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) Endowed Professor of
Tax Law at the Lagos State University (LASU).

Taofeeq is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of


Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Bankers, London, U.K. A
Member of the Chartered Management Institute, (UK) and an
Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel
Management of Nigeria as well as the Nigerian Institute of
Management and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK). He
is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners
(UK) and holds the Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP)
designation.

He earned his Bachelor of Laws (LL. B Hons) degree from


Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria, and attained a Master
of Laws (LL.M) in Tax from the prestigious London School of
Economics and Political Science (LSE), University of London. He
pursued advanced studies and obtained his Doctor of Philosophy
(Ph.D.) in Tax Law from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria,
further deepening his expertise in taxation law.

‘Wale Irokosu
Managing Partner

‘Wale Irokosu is a seasoned litigator who combines a broad


practice in contentious and non-contentious commercial law. He
is a Notary Public and he is often retained for highly contentious
commercial law in various aspects of law including taxation,
insolvency, debt recovery, land, maritime, aviation, family and
succession.

With almost 2 decades’ post-call experience, ‘Wale is a co-


Founder/Managing Partner, Probitas Partners LLP. He is also the
Senior Partner, SQS Consulting (a tax advisory and strategy
Firm); and, a co-Founder/Director, SQS Publishing, and Editor-in-
Chief of Electricity Law Reports &’ Electricity Digest.

Wale leads the firm’s team of experts in the power industry. He


also supervises the Data Protection Compliance Practice of the
Firm. He is well experienced and versatile in power industry
issues and best practices in the United Kingdom and the United
States of America. Wale has advised extensively on different
power transactions and the regulatory issues affecting same in
Nigeria. Wale has negotiated and finalized different transactions
in the power industry.

‘Wale Irokosu holds a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Maritime


Law from the University of Wales, Cardiff; a Bachelor of Laws
(LLB) from the University of Central England, Birmingham and is
an alumnus of the Nigerian Law School. He is a member of the
Institute of Directors (IoD); Associate Member, Institute of
Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS); Associate, Chartered Institute of
Arbitrators, UK; Member, Chartered Institute of Taxation,
amongst other associations.

Suleiman Salami Esq.


Associate Partner

Suleiman is a seasoned legal practitioner with extensive


experience in dispute resolution and commercial law. As an
associate partner in the firm, Suleiman has demonstrated a
commitment to providing exceptional legal services and fostering
positive client relationships. Suleiman's commitment to
excellence, innovative mindset, and comprehensive legal
expertise makes him a valuable asset to our team and a trusted
advisor to our clients.

With a robust background in litigation, Suleiman has effectively


handled complex cases, ranging from contesting jurisdictional
challenges to defending clients in high-stakes appeal matters.
Notably, Suleiman has successfully navigated cases and
represented clients in challenging tax disputes, including cases
involving objections to tax assessments, appeals against tax
penalties, and litigation over tax liabilities.

He obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of


Ilorin in 2016 and subsequently completed his legal education at
the Nigerian Law School in 2017. He holds membership in both
the Nigerian Bar Association and the Institute of Chartered
Mediators and Conciliators.
