The Mission

Filipino flavors, served in a fun, welcoming atmosphere that fosters connection and happiness in
every bite.

Introduction

Takoyaki is a dish in which “tako” (相) indicates octopus and “yaki” (焼) means cooked. Moore
(2018). It originates in Japan and is made with wheat-based batter, this snack can have an
extensive selection of fillings and toppings and it is famous for octopus filling. Stuffed with
leftover tempura, pickled ginger, and octopus, it is often prepared in a specialized takoyaki pan.
Street seller Tomekichi Endo created this well-liked delicacy and started selling it in Osaka,
Japan in the mid-1930s. Endo offered choboyaki, an older kind of takoyaki with a flattened shape
and similar contents. Inspired by akashiyaki or tamagoyaki, which are eggy octopus dumplings
that are supposed to be dipped in soup, Endo started experimenting with ingredients to develop
what is today known as takoyaki. Thompson (2020).
