1. Introduction
The main purpose of the introduction is to provide the necessary background or context
for your research problem. How to frame the research problem is perhaps the biggest
problem in proposal writing. It begins with a general statement of the problem area, with
a focus on a specific research problem, to be followed by justification of study. This
section indicates that some research has been carried on the area of interest, however
there still exit a gap that needs to filled. It is important therefore to outline several studies
that have been undertake on the topical area summarizing their conclusive evidence and
relevance to the study area. A more descriptive background will then be structured from
the worldview, regional, and localized perspective.
(Remark: use one page and include well referenced paragraphs!)

2. Statement of the Problem

Problem statement provides a clear and concise description of the issues that need to be
addressed - What is the specific problem in that research area that you will address.
Briefly state what the problem of the investigation will be for the proposed study. Give
evidence of the magnitude of the problem by either giving the statistics where applicable
or citations. Remember your problem can be theoretical or practical and whichever you
opt to address, make sure you have ‘convicted’ the problem.
(Remark: use half page; with a maximum of two paragraphs!)
3. Objectives
These are the General and specific objectives the research seeks to answer. It should be
linked to the general and the specific area where the study is to be undertaken. Both the
general and the specific objectives must be regularized to conform the topic of the
concept. (Remarks: use half page and at least four specific objectives!)

4. Scope of the project

It explains the boundaries of the project, sets up procedures for how completed work will
be verified and approved. Project scope is a detailed outline of all aspects of a project,
including all related activities, resources, timelines, and deliverables, as well as the
project’s boundaries. A project scope also outlines key stakeholders, processes,
assumptions, and constraints, as well as what the project is about, what is included, and
what isn’t. All of this essential information is documented in a scope statement.
5. Significance of the project

The significance of the study explains why your research was important. It justifies why your
research was needed, the impact of your research in your field, its contribution, and how others
(audience) would benefit from it. Also referred to as the rationale of the study, the significance of
the study is important to communicate why your research is important to your reader. It is
important to make clear the significance of your study for easy comprehension by the readers.

5. Research Methodology
Research methodology defines the research methods and logic steps, what to do and how
to solve the problem and achieve proposed objectives?
(Remark: use one page; if the title is done in the previous academic year method must
different and state your new research methodology!)
6. Reference
The reference materials used for the concept paper must be outline under the reference
section following a standard format that is approved by the university. Remember there
are several formats for referencing various articles and other academic work and only one
must be used at one particular time for a standard practice.
(Remarks: at least five direct related articles and use APA format!)
