Jk rowling new book ilvermorny

Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was established in the 17th century on Mount Greylock in Massachusetts. The school's founders, Isolt Sayre and James Steward, built a granite stone house that would eventually become a castle. Initially, the school accepted students from all over North America and was sorted into four houses. Over
time, the school grew, and the front doors were adorned with marble statues of Sayre and Steward. The castle was concealed by powerful enchantments that sometimes manifested as a wreath of misty cloud. Ilvermorny School's early days were marked by being just a day school with James, Isolt, and their family as its only residents. News of this new
school reached Europe, and Gormlaith Gaunt, Isolt's wicked aunt, finally tracked down her niece. She cast a curse from afar to put them in a deep sleep, hoping to kill them and take their newborn twin daughters for herself. However, she was unaware of Chadwick and Webster, who, upon hearing Parseltongue used by Gormlaith to disable Isolt's
wand, alerted the brothers with their wands' cores made of Horned Serpent horn. Chadwick took on the Dark witch while Webster tried to wake their parents. The couple was awakened when they heard their infant daughters crying. James protected the babies as Isolt tried to join the fight but her wand was useless after being disabled earlier. In the
duel, the whole family was pushed into the bedroom, and Isolt called out to her late father William for help. He answered by killing Gormlaith with a poisoned arrow through his friend William, a Pukwudgie. After Gormlaith's death, Isolt and James buried Isolt's wand outside the school grounds. Isolt did not want it as it reminded her of her unhappy
childhood. A year later, a snakewood tree grew from where it was buried. This tree had powerful medicinal properties and was kept even though any attempts to kill or prune it were unsuccessful. By the 18th century, Ilvermorny became a granite castle with more teachers added due to the growing number of students. The school transitioned into a
boarding school by this point. It gained the same reputation as other schools of magic, and its founders concealed their school through clever enchantments that made it appear like a misty cloud to No-Majs. Ilvermorny's past was marred by one of the greatest breaches of the International Statute of Secrecy when an ex-student revealed the school's
location along with other information about the wizarding community. This led to the passage of Rappaport's Law, which effectively segregated the No-Maj and wizarding communities. When first-years arrived at Ilvermorny, they were sorted into their house and then allowed to choose or be chosen by their wand before being taken to another area.
Students were not allowed a wand outside of school until they were seventeen and were not permitted one before arriving at Ilvermorny. Ilvermorny students were skilled in using magic wands[7] and even had a school song. In 1926, they offered special Xylomancy classes outside regular lessons.[8] Some parents got worried about Ilvermorny
students during holidays, so the school agreed to keep them safe then.[9] The New York Ghost wrote about Ilvermorny's achievements and student rankings.[10] One of their scholars even published an essay in Transfiguration Today in 1926.[9] In 1927, French kids could study at Ilvermorny through a special exchange program if their parents
worked for the French Ministry of Magic.[11] That year, Ilvermorny added Creature Care to its curriculum.[12] In the 2011-2012 school year, some Ilvermorny students took part in the Intercontinental Wizard's Cup at Hogwarts Castle with Balloon Carriages. By 2016, Professor Agilbert Fontaine was leading the school as headmaster, a descendant of
one of the original twelve Aurors at MACUSA.[2] Chadwick's Charms was still used for lessons in all its seven volumes. In 2018, an unauthorised magical surge caused problems worldwide by breaking the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy several times. Calamity Investigators arrived at Ilvermorny in 2020 to help set up defenses against the
global magic breach.[13] Ilvermorny had four houses: Horned Serpent, Wampus, Thunderbird, and Pukwudgie. New students were sorted into these houses by stepping on a Gordian Knot with wooden statues of each house's mascot nearby. The carved statues reacted to show which house the new student belonged in, but sometimes more than one
house would try to claim the same student, allowing them to choose their preferred house.[1] This rarely happened, except for students like Seraphina Picquery who were chosen by all houses; she chose Horned Serpent. After sorting, students were brought to a large hall where they were chosen again, this time with magic wands prior to leaving
school during breaks and only taking their wand back after the end of Rappaport's Law. Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was known for its inclusive nature, being founded by a No-Maj. At 17, students were well-versed in wand use. In Transfiguration Today's edition 2579, Ilvermorny scholars featured on the front page. The school
uniform was blue and cranberry, honouring Isolt and James. All robes had a gold Gordian Knot fastening, symbolizing the brooch found by Isolt. Subjects taught at Ilvermorny included Defence Against the Dark Arts, Charms, Transfiguration, Potions, Xylomancy, and possibly Arithmancy. Defence Against the Dark Arts focused on defensive techniques
against the Dark Arts and Dark creatures. Rionach Steward, daughter of the founders, was a professor in this subject. Charms involved learning spells that gave objects new properties. The Charms Chalice was an award for excellence in this subject. Eulalie Hicks taught Transfiguration in 1932, and her book "Advanced Charm Casting" was required
reading for fifth-year students. Potions was the art of creating mixtures with magical effects, requiring precise mixing and stirring. Xylomancy, offered as an extracurricular class in 1926, relied on twigs for divination. Arithmancy, a branch of magic concerned with numbers, had an award at Ilvermorny called the Arithmancy Achievement Accolade.
Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry: A Unique Institution Ilvermorny was a wizarding school that existed in North America, and it had its own distinct features and traditions. The subject of magical properties of numbers suggests that this may have been an elective course at the school. Another theoretical subject, Study of Ancient Runes,
likely taught at Ilvermorny, explored ancient runic scripts. Creature Care was introduced into the curriculum in 1927, possibly as a response to the attack on New York City in 1926. The administration of Ilvermorny consisted of a single Headmaster who made major decisions regarding the school's safety and day-to-day operations. There is evidence
to suggest that American children could attend this school separately from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The construction of Ilvermorny drew heavily on the magic of local Native American tribes, which had a talent for Plant and Animal magic. The school song was not included in the film adaptation, leaving its canonicity unclear.
However, students from the Wampanoag and Narragansett tribes shared their knowledge of Native American magic with Ilvermorny students in exchange for teaching wandwork techniques. The Sorting Ceremony at Ilvermorny is similar to the Hogwarts sorting process but allows students to choose between two themes. Ilvermorny may have its own
Quidditch Cup, Transfiguration Tournament, and other awards such as the Excellence in Runes Cup. An exchange programme with Hogwarts was also proposed. The Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the youngest known wizarding school, has been introduced in the Harry Potter universe. Eula Puente, its Quidditch commentator, speaks
both English and Mexican Spanish. There have been various mentions of Ilvermorny in the books, films, and other media, but no physical copy or book written by J.K. Rowling is available. The original text appears to be a collection of notes and references related to Ilvermorny, including mentions from J.K. Rowling's writings on the Harry Potter
website, as well as appearances in the Fantastic Beasts films, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, and other media. The text also seems to be part of a discussion or Q&A session about Ilvermorny on a Harry Potter fan forum. I removed the specific references, notes, and citations from the original text, as they are not essential to understanding the
