Present 10a12

The presentation discusses the critical issue of water pollution, defining it as the contamination of water sources by toxic substances, which can originate from both point and nonpoint sources. It highlights the severe impact of water pollution on human health, with significant statistics on diseases caused by unsafe drinking water, and emphasizes the need for community awareness and responsible waste management to combat this growing problem. The document concludes with actionable steps individuals and communities can take to reduce water pollution and protect essential water resources.

Introduction: . Next, I would like to introduce the presentation of our group of 6.

And today my group will give a presentation about one of the environmental
pollution issues: water pollution. There are 6 members in my group with own
roles:

As you know, water is one of the precious gifts that Mother Nature gives to
humans and nature. Along with air, light, and land, this resource never lasts
indefinitely. However, today, serious pollution of fresh water resources is
becoming a worrying problem in modern society.

Slide 1: So What Is Water Pollution? Water pollution occurs when toxic

substances—from chemicals to microorganisms—contaminate a water source,
reducing its quality and making it toxic to humans and the environment. These
pollutants can seep into groundwater or run off into rivers, lakes and oceans,
affecting ecosystems far beyond the original pollution sites. Water pollution is
often classified into two types:

Slide 2: Pollution from a point sources: This type of pollution originates from a
single identifiable source such as a factory, oil spill or wastewater treatment plant.

Nonpoint source pollution: This occurs when pollutants are washed into water
bodies from dispersed sources such as agricultural runoff, stormwater from cities,
or eroded soil.

Slide 4:

Society is increasingly developing, which not only brings many conveniences but
also comes with many consequences and challenges for our lives. One of the
serious issues to consider is freshwater pollution, a typical effect of unbalanced
development.
We can see that urban planning plans have not been modernized and have not
really paid attention to water waste treatment. Therefore, water pollution is
becoming extremely serious, especially in big cities, industrial zones and classic
urban areas. Water sources, from lakes, rivers to wastewater pipeline systems, are
all seriously affected by this pollution.
Slide 3:
The main cause of this problem is the lack of awareness of some people and the
lack of responsibility of businesses. Profit goals are often put first, leading to
violations of mining processes and environmental pollution. Environmental
management and protection are also not effective, playing an important role in
encouraging environmentally destructive behavior. Some of the most significant
causes include waste discharged from industrial plants, farmers using pesticides
containing many chemical ingredients, and the increasing amount of wastewater
and domestic water discharged. much. In addition, there are oil spills and littering
at sea.
Slide 4: Another important factor is the lack of responsibility of businesses, whose
priority is often profit. Some businesses have violated environmental regulations
and caused pollution. Environmental protection management and supervision are
also not strictly implemented, creating conditions for environmental destruction to
increase.

Slide 5: Impact of Water Pollution on Human Health

Unsafe water has severe implications for human health. According to
UNESCO 2021 World Water Development Report, about 829,000 people die each
year from diarrhea caused by unsafe drinking water, sanitation, and hand hygiene,
including nearly 300,000 children under the age of five, representing 5.3 percent of
all deaths in this age group. Data from Palestine suggest that people who drink
municipal water directly are more likely to suffer from diseases such as diarrhea
than those who use desalinated and household-filtered drinking water (Yassin et
al., 2006). In a comparative study of tap water, purified water, and bottled water,
tap water was an essential source of gastrointestinal disease (Payment et al., 1997).
Lack of water and sanitation services also increases the incidence of diseases such
as cholera, trachoma, schistosomiasis, and helminthiasis. Data from studies in
developing countries show a clear relationship between cholera and contaminated
water, and household water treatment and storage can reduce cholera (Gundry et
al., 2004). In addition to disease, unsafe drinking water, and poor environmental
hygiene can lead to gastrointestinal illness, inhibiting nutrient absorption and
malnutrition. These effects are especially pronounced for children.

Slide 6: It is easy to see that water pollution is increasing, the proportion of the
population suffering from water shortage is becoming more and more serious, and
the ecological environment will be destroyed. That's why we need to take
reasonable measures to prevent and reduce serious water pollution in the world.
Below I would like to propose possible measures that even we can easily
implement: Raise community awareness. ...
Keep water sources clean. ...

Save clean water resources, Dispose of waste properly, Classify and properly
handle household waste, Appropriate domestic wastewater treatment measures,
Towards green agriculture and so on.

Besides that, limit the use of food bags. It is important to prevent water pollution
whenever possible because of how harmful this pollution is to human health and
the environment. If you want to reduce your risk of various health conditions, it is
important that you always have access to clean, pure water. When it comes to the
environment, clean water is absolutely essential to ensure the entire ocean
ecosystem remains relatively healthy.

To start reducing water pollution today, some initial steps you can take include
saving water, using less plastic, and making sure you don't use your toilet as a trash
can. By taking these steps, you will help protect the environment.

We need water to survive, just like we need air, sunlight and food. Nothing can
live without access to this essential element. Life is ultimately about choices and so
is water pollution. We cannot live with sewage-filled beaches, polluted rivers and
fish that are toxic to drink and eat. To avoid these scenarios, we can work together
to keep the environment clean so that water sources, plants, animals and the people
who depend on it remain healthy. We can take individual or group action to help
reduce water pollution. For example, by using eco-friendly cleaners, not pouring
oil down the drain, reducing pesticide use, etc. We can also take community action
to keep our rivers and seas cleaner. And we can act as countries and continents to
pass laws against water pollution. By working together, we can make water
pollution less of a problem—and the world a better place.
