Besides agriculture, another popular type of farming in the Philippines is aquaculture, or the
culturing of aquatic plants and animals in both coastal and inland areas (Palanca-Tan, 2018).
This sub-sector of the country’s fisheries industry has steadily grown over the years, making up
for the dwindling decline of municipal fisheries (Palanca-Tan, 2018). Consequently,
With current traditional farming having heavy disadvantages and the predomination of rice
monoculture in the country, aquaculture is taken into consideration as a type of farming. This is
the culturing of aquatic plants and animals in both coastal and inland areas (Palanca-Tan, 2018).
Aquaculture has helped the industry of fisheries to steadily grow over the years, making up for
the dwindling decline of municipal fisheries (Palanca-Tan, 2018). Consequently, as traditional
farming is completely linked to the usage of different varieties of pesticides, the combination of
various modern agricultural methods has great potential for addressing poverty (Reddy &
Kishori, 2018).
Rice-aquaculture farming (RAF) can be an effective solution for reducing poverty as it includes
economic, social, and environmental benefits.
Objectives of the Study
- to approach the problems of poverty from different viewpoints to find the feasible way to
solve the problem.
There are many ways to reduce poverty, rice-aquaculture farming is the tool chosen
to reduce poverty. However, some plants are prone to wilting as well as the unexpected
failures in using aqua farming . This study aims to know
1. What are the factors that affect the growth of rice?
2. What are the different methods or ways to ensure success in reducing poverty?
3. What are the pests present in the plant and effective pest control management to
eliminate them.
