2015-1 320

The document outlines key changes to the FCOM, QRH, and FCTM manuals for A318/A319/A320/A321 aircraft effective from January 2015. Major updates include the introduction of procedures for smoke/fire from lithium batteries, RNAV visual approaches, RF legs, and the replacement of 'PNF' with 'PM'. Additionally, new sections on runway overrun warnings and performance tables have been created or modified to enhance operational guidelines and remove redundant information.

Main FCOM/QRH/FCTM changes introduced from January 2015 –

A318/A319/A320/A321:

The main FCOM/QRH/FCTM changes described in this document will be

available in the Operator FCOM/QRH/FCTM manuals, according to the
Operator’s revision cycle.

1. SMOKE/FIRE FROM LITHIUM BATTERY

1.1 EFFECT ON THE MANUALS

• FCOM: PRO-ABN- 26 –Fire Protection – SMOKE/FIRE FROM LITHIUM BATTERY

• QRH: 26.03A- ABNORMAL AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES- SMOKE/FIRE FROM
LITHIUM BATTERY
• FCTM: AO-26- SMOKE/FIRE FROM LITHIUM BATTERY

1.2 SUMMARY OF THE MODIFICATION

The SMOKE/FIRE FROM LITHIUM BATTERY is introduced in the FCOM and QRH to
address the cases of smoke or fire in the cockpit, coming from portable electronic devices
equipped with lithium batteries.
Guidelines are also introduced in the FCTM Abnormal Operations AO-026-SMOKE/FIRE
FROM LITHIUM BATTERY.

2. RNAV VISUAL APPROACH

2.1 EFFECT ON THE MANUALS

• FCOM: PRO-NOR-SOP-APPROACH-APPROACH GUIDANCE MANAGEMENT

2.2 SUMMARY OF THE MODIFICATION

The procedure to fly RNAV VISUAL approaches is introduced in the FCOM.

During RNAV VISUAL approaches, the aircraft navigates using the RNAV system, but the
position is monitored by visual reference to the ground, obstacles and other traffic.
The FCOM procedure provides the required equipment, and the actions that the flight
crew should perform depending on the flight phase.

The current regulation on RNAV VISUAL approach does not specify a required accuracy.
Therefore, the procedure does not specify a dedicated guidance mode to fly these kinds
of approach.

3. RF LEGS (RADIUS TO FIX LEGS)

3.1 EFFECT ON THE MANUALS

• FCTM: SI-110 – RF LEGS

3.2 SUMMARY OF THE MODIFICATION

An RF leg is an arc of a circle with a fixed radius coded in the Navigation Data Base. The
rounded-up value of the radius is displayed on MCDU flight plan page and is called ARC
value.

RF legs may be part of RNP operations in the terminal area and approach (RNP AR
APCH and RNAV VISUAL). The flying technique of RF legs is introduced in the FCTM.
This chapter provides details on the way to fly RF legs and addresses the following points:

- Use of AP/FD
- Speed management along RF legs
- Go-around during RF leg
- Use of the DIR TO function
- Engine-Out considerations

4. CHANGE PNF INTO PM

4.1 EFFECT ON THE MANUALS

• FCOM: all sections

• FCTM: all sections
• QRH: all sections

4.2 SUMMARY OF THE MODIFICATION

The abbreviation “PNF” (Pilot Non Flying) is replaced by “PM” (Pilot Monitoring) in all
manuals.
5. ROW/ROP (RUNWAY OVERRUN WARNING / RUNWAY OVERRUN
PROTECTION)

5.1 EFFECT ON THE MANUALS

• FCTM-SI-50 ROW/ROP: creation of this section

• FCOM-DSC-34-75-20
• FCOM-DSC-34-75-40
• FCOM-LIM-34-ROW/ROP: creation of this section
• FCOM-PRO-SUP-34-ROW/ROP: deletion of this section
• FCOM-PRO-NOR-SOP-Descent Preparation-Landing Performance

5.2 SUMMARY OF THE MODIFICATIONS

A section “ROW/ROP” is created in the FCTM-SI-50 section, to provide general information

about ROW/ROP and some guidelines when approaching the runway end.

A new section “ROW/ROP” is created in the FCOM-PRO-LIM-34 section to gather the

ROW/ROP limitations.

The information contained in the former FCOM-PRO-SUP-ROW/ROP section is moved to

FCTM-SI-50 and FCOM-PRO-LIM-34-ROW/ROP.
Additional information on ROP alerts is added in FCOM-DSC-34-75.

In FCOM-PRO-NOR-SOP-Descent Preparation-Landing Performance, a note is added to

give information on the landing distance computation when EFB is used.

1. PERFORMANCES TABLES

1.1 EFFECT ON THE MANUALS

The following Sections/Subsections are updated or removed:

• FCOM PER-FPL-FLP-FTK
• FCOM PER-FPL-FLP-ALT-10
• FCOM PER-FPL-FLP-ICR
• FCOM PER-TOF-TOC-16 to 20 (for A320 neo only)
• FCOM PER-TOF-TOD-40 to 50
• FCOM PER-CLB-CLT
• FCOM PER-CRZ-ECI
• FCOM PER-CRZ-ALT-10
• FCOM PER-CRZ-ALT-30
• FCOM PER-CRZ-CRT
• FCOM PER-CRZ-ICQ-40
• FCOM PER-HLD-HLD
• FCOM PER-OEI-ALT-10
• FCOM PER-OEI-CRT
• FCOM PER-OEI-ICQ-10
• FCOM PER-OEI-DES-15

1.2 SUMMARY OF THE MODIFICATION

Some performance tables have been removed from the FCOM for one of the following
reasons:
- They were redundant with the QRH tables
- They were provided for many different temperatures and speeds, thus adding
complexity to the manuals
- They had been designed at a time when computer based calculations were not
available or not common, and are now obsolete
