1. Islamic Influence: Saudi Arabia's culture is deeply rooted in Islamic heritage. The majority of
its residents follow Islam with great devotion. The introduction of Islam in the 7th century AD
significantly shaped the country's culture, fostering developments in science, culture, and
philosophy.
2. Historical Influences:
- Old Trade Routes: As early as 3,000 BC, Arabian merchants were part of extensive trade
networks connecting Egypt, the Mediterranean, and South Asia. These trade routes brought in
cultural influences from around the world.
- Foundation of Islam: The 7th century AD marked the spread of Islam across the Arabian
Peninsula, China, India, and beyond. This period led to significant advancements in various
fields.
3. Hospitality and Family Values:
- Saudi Arabia is known for its warm hospitality. Visitors experience genuine kindness and
generosity.
- Family-oriented traditions play a central role. Families are tightly knit, and respect for elders
is paramount.
4. Ramadan and Eid-Al-Fitr:
- The holy month of Ramadan is a major highlight. Locals fast from dawn to dusk, and it
culminates in the joyous Eid-Al-Fitr celebration.
- During Eid, people exchange gifts and celebrate with family and friends.
5. Arts and Literature:
- Saudi Arabia's cultural landscape includes literature, painting, sculpture, weaving, furniture
making, and jewelry craftsmanship.
- Arabic classical poetry holds high esteem, with various poetic forms and colloquialisms.

- The society is deeply religious, conservative, and family-oriented.
- Many attitudes and traditions are centuries-old, derived from Arab civilization and Islamic
heritage.
Saudi Arabia and the Philippines have distinct cultures and traditions due to their geographical,
historical, and religious differences.
1.Religion: Saudi Arabia is the birthplace of Islam and follows the strict Wahhabi
interpretation of the religion. The majority of the population is Sunni Muslim.

Religion: The Philippines is predominantly Roman Catholic, with a significant portion of


the population practicing other Christian denominations.

2. Language: The official language is Arabic.

Language: The official language is Filipino (based on Tagalog), but English and various
regional languages are also spoken.

3. Society: Saudi society is patriarchal, and family ties are highly valued. Public displays
of affection are not common.

Society: Filipino society is known for its hospitality and warmth. Family is highly valued,
and extended families often live together.

4. Clothing: Men wear a long robe called a thobe, and women wear a long black robe
called an abaya, covering their hair and body.

Clothing: Filipinos dress casually and modestly, with traditional clothing like the barong
(formal attire for men) and the terno (evening gown for women) worn on special occasions.

5. Cuisine: Saudi cuisine is influenced by Middle Eastern and Arabian Peninsula flavors,
with dishes like kabsa (spiced rice with meat), shawarma, and hummus being popular.

Cuisine: Filipino cuisine is a blend of Spanish, Chinese, and native influences, with
dishes like adobo (meat or vegetables cooked in vinegar, garlic, and soy sauce), sinigang (sour
soup), and lumpia (spring rolls) being popular.
