Sub:-Review of engagement of Apprentices in BSNL-Constitution of Committee thereof
This is to intimate that apprentices are being engaged every year in BSNL as per
guidelines issued by this office vide letter No. 30-16/95-Trg dated 22/08/2003 and 12-
1/2007-Trg dated 17/12/2007 (copy available in the Intranet). Under this scheme,
Graduates & Diploma holders are being engaged for a period of 1 year through the
respective zonal Board of Apprentice Training (BOAT) authorities who are under MHRD and
it will continue to be in place in BSNL.
Further, as all concerned may be aware that Skill India Mission has been launched
by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India and amendments have been made in the Apprentice Act-
1961 by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) in December 2014.
MSDE has identified Apprenticeship Training Scheme as the potential for delivering large
volumes of training under skill development. BSNL has been asked to give active support to
the National Mission for “Skilled India”. The details of amendment are available on website
(https://ncvtmis.gov.in/pages/ apprenticeship/home.aspx Presently, as per the MSDE
guidelines, the engagement of apprentices is available for a maximum period of 3 years.
BSNL proposes to induct apprentice trainees under the MSDE scheme with minimum
qualification of 10+2, ITI, diploma holders in the designated/identified trades. It is
requested to choose 7 or 8 relevant trades where skill development training can be imparted
in your SSA/unit and also their services duly utilized by BSNL.
In order to take this initiative forward, it has been decided that the following
information may be sent to this office latest by 11.12.2015 on E-mail ID:

1. The number of apprentices that can be trained trade wise annually (refer Ann ‘A’) at
Circle/ SSAs level in all streams i/c Civil/Elect & Arch.
2. One Nodal officer in circle office (preferably DGM level) and the name, designation &
contact details (Email ID/ Mobile & Land line No) of the Mentor in each SSA/Unit
(preferably DE level) under whom the apprentice trainee will be placed for overall
supervision & guidance.
