ABOUT NITTTR CHANDIGARH
National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chandigarh, formerly known as Technical Teachers
Training Institute (TTTI), was established by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India
in 1967 to meet the requirements of training Polytechnic teachers for the growth and development of polytechnic
education in the northern region of the country. It had the collaboration of Royal Netherlands Government up to 1974.
The institute ushered into a new era in November 2003, with its changed name and enhanced status as National Institute
of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR). It is one of the four such National Institutes in the Country
with a focus on the Northern Region comprising the states of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar
Pradesh, Uttarakhand, National Capital Territory of Delhi, and Union Territory of Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, and
Ladakh. Presently, the outreach of the programmes and activities of the institute covers the entire gamut of technical
education. Ministry of Education, Government of India has recently accorded the ‘Deemed to be University’ status to
NITTTR Chandigarh under distinct category.
ABOUT ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND INDUSTRIAL COORDINATION DEPARTMENT
Entrepreneurship Development and Industrial Coordination (EDIC) department was established at NITTTR, Chandigarh
in the year 1983 with a view to introduce and promote entrepreneurship development and improve Industry-Institute
Interaction (III) in the technical education system. Presently, the department provides services to the Engineering
Colleges, Polytechnics and Management Institutes of the Country. The department is engaged in training of
entrepreneurs, potential entrepreneurs, entrepreneur-trainer-motivators (ETMs), technical teachers, managers,
administrators & professionals from industries. With a holistic approach to the promotion of entrepreneurship and
industry-institute interaction, the department is also conducting research & development studies; preparing instructional
material (both print and non-print); offering assistance in curriculum design and review; providing extension services to
client institutes and undertaking consultancy work in the broad areas of Entrepreneurship and allied aspects.
RATIONALE FOR THE PROGRAMME
Global economic progress brings higher educational institutions (HEI) to be more competitive in producing research
results. These results may become new knowledge in the knowledge of economy. Faculty members being the
cornerstone of any higher educational institutions have to step up for the challenges being presented by this new and
changing paradigm in the academia by enhancing their research capabilities. This calls for faculty members to undergo
training programmes which will be able to bring enhancement in their respective research domain alongside with the
impact on the associated aspects like teaching and administration. The main objective of this programme is to expose
participants to the nuances of academic research by introducing them to the core concepts of the domain along with the
ways corporates take into the cognizance of the research outputs for the practical purposes. Further, this programme will
bring forth in front of participants the way of writing and submitting a research project along with the number of
statistical data analysis techniques. This programme will also show the participants the process of conducting a
systematic literature review and bibliographic analysis for their respective research areas as well.
Indicative topics to be covered during FDP: Defining Academic Research and Research Process, Research
Instrument’s Validity and Data Analysis, Bibliographic Analysis, Multivariate Data Analysis and Selecting Appropriate
Data Analysis Method, Multiple Regression Using Excel, Research Avenues for Career Progression in-line with New
Education Policy, Research Project Submission: Intricacies and Pathway, Research for Market Opportunities
