 Lily of the valley

Summary

Nani, a photographer, a city boy who has been dealing with insomnia from past trauma, has
decided to follow what his doctor recommended him to do and stay at the country side for a
few years to clear his mind.

And on his way he met the guy who invested in the whole village he will be staying, and him
being one of the reason Nani will forget about his trauma and overcome his insomnia.

 Chapter 1

“Bring your hands up and bend down, stretch as far as you can”

The sound of a yoga teacher playing in the background, Nani was on the floor, on top of his
yoga mat and it was currently 5 am in the morning. After tossing and turning around the
whole night he decided to just make his time useful and do simple exercise. He pulled his
hands backwards and stretched, feeling his eyes slowly getting heavier and heavier.

“Nani! NANI WAKE UP” Nani's whole body jumped.

Rubbing his eyes as the vision started getting clearer, it was his best friend Dew in front of
him. He handed out his hands when the boy reached out, nani sat down properly and looked
around. Visibly tired and confused.

“What are you doing in a yoga mat dude”

“I couldn’t sleep and decided to do yoga” he yawned and stood up.

“You still couldn’t sleep? How long did you sleep for today?”

Nani looked at the clock and did the maths, showing a 4, he smiled widely. “Four hours”
Dew shook his head and showed the porridge and bread he had brought from the market.
Nani nodded and peeked at the kitchen, seeing Tee heating up some tea.

The three boys had been friends since a very young age, Nani works as a scenery
photographer. You can say he has made a lot of money, people loved his work, they often
described how his work has deep meaning and often gives them the feeling of nostalgia and
warmth. Tee and Dew would often go to Nani’s apartment to check on him after he has
started to deal with insomnia and other problems.

“Go wash up and i'll heat up the food for you” Tee walks up to them and grabs the plastic
from Dew, “i can heat it up” “you’re gonna burn down Nani’s house” “will not!”

Nani walks to his bedroom with a shaking head, being done with his two best friends who
can't go a day without bickering. Because he knows something one of them don't and the
other do, Tee slapped Dew hands softly and points at him, “stop whining like a kid” he walks
away, not realizing the wide smile on Dew’s face.

“Are you done nan?”

“Almost!” Nani walked out of the shower and looked at the mirror, he touched his head
where there were marks of sewing. He closed his eyes and sighed, trying to shrug it off.
He used his t-shirt and walked out of the bathroom. Heading to the table where his two
friends already are, Dew handed him the porridge and a milk beside it. Nani thanked him and
started to dig in.

“Are you going to see the doctor?” Nani shook his head, “I think i'm going to the
countryside” Dew choked on his chicken.

“Huh? What? Why? So sudden? How? When? Where—“

“Dew can you shut up” Tee shoved the bread into his mouth, earning a angry pout from Dew.
Nani chuckle at them.

“I went to the doctor last week and they told me that maybe its the atmosphere I'm living in,
he told me to get some fresh air and go to a place where technology is limited and I am
surrounded by greens, and where is a better place than the countryside?”

“True true.. are we coming along—“ Tee smacked his head.

“Are you stupid? We have work to do Dew”

“Stop hitting my head! What if I become dumber?!” Nani scratched his nape, “you already
are! Stop whining and eat your food!” Nani and Dew made eye contact as Nani wiggled his
eyebrows. Soon he received a middle finger that was smacked by Tee.

Nani packed his bag and placed all his stuff on the car, waving goodbye to his friends. He
rides along the road, going to where his map leads him to. The window rolled down, he felt
the strong wind brushing through his face, and for a few seconds, he felt alive. A few hours
had passed by and he seemed to no longer be in the city center. Looking at the scenery beside
him, he decided to stop his car and go out.

Looking from the cliff with his camera in his hands, a few kilometers away from him was the
village he will be staying at for a few months, or even years? No one knows but time. He
took out his camera, capturing the ocean view from his point.

A group of migratory birds flew past him. He sighed and closed his eyes, taking in a deep
breath. Going back to his car, he turns on the engine, suddenly a weird sound starts coming
out from the car. His car seemed to have broke down, he looks at the fuel and cursed under
his breath.

“How can i forget to fill the fuel” he bumps his head onto the steering wheel, flinching from a
knocking sound from the window.

It was a guy, he looked a year younger than him, hair messy as if he had just woken up from a
nap, wearing an overall which had mud stains all over it. Nani opened the door, not being
able to roll down the car window. The boy was a few centimeters taller than him, the boy
took off both his muddy gloves.
Checking out the car behind Nani, “did your car break down?”

Nani scratches his nape, “more to.. i forgot to fill up the fuel” the boy in front of him
chuckled. Taking a whole bottle of fuel from his backpack, Nani frowned at the sight.

“Do you just carry that around..?”

“Hm? It's convenient for cases like this, is it not?” Nani nodded and his hands reaches out,
The boy just stared at his hands and walked past him, going to his gas tank.

“I can do it—“ “can you?”

Nani paused and looked away, “no..”

The boy smiled and shook his head, “step aside then, it's alright i’ll do it” Nani nodded and
looked at the ocean again while the boy filled in his gas tank. Taking out his camera, he took
more pictures.

He flinched and stepped back when a face appeared on his camera instead of the sky.

The boy smiled and pointed at Nani’s car, “all done, try it” Nani nodded and started the
engine, both reversing and moving forward. His car seemed to be stuck, he frowned.

Rolling down the window as the boy told him to, “your car is stuck in a steep pothole” Nani
let out a confused sound.

The boy scratched his nape, “how about this, let's push your car together from the back, it
may help your car get out of the hole” Nani nodded. The two boys pushed his car, and soon it
made out, Nani and him both pant tiredly. “Thank you” Nani leaned on his legs, the guy
nodded and gave a thumbs up.

“Where are you heading?”

“Why? Are you going to send me there as a thank you gift?”

“Wh— no— ….” Nani looked away, “yeah..” The guy chuckled and pat his shoulder, “well
don't be so embarrassed about it, i'm heading to the village a few kilometers from here” he
points at the south.

“The ‘Lily of the valley’ village?” The guy’s brows raised when Nani guessed correctly, “I'm
heading there too, what a coincidence” he smiled and signaled the guy to enter the car.

“Hey, are you not afraid that I will do something to you in the car? I'm a stranger you know?”
Nani frowned and walked back to him, “Im Nani, your turn”.

“Sky”

“Well now that we know each other's name, we’re no longer strangers right?” He stormed to
his car, Sky stood still behind the car, finding himself laughing at how silly and naive the boy
was.
 Gardenia
Chapter Notes

Gardenia, Gardenias are fragrant florals you’ll commonly find in flower gardens. These
flowers emit a fresh smell that reduces stress and induces sleep.

“You can drop me here” Nani stopped the car as Sky got off, before closing the door shut.
The boy bent down to look at Nani, smiling as he threw a salute.

“See you soon” The door closed shut, Nani frowned at his words.

“ See you soon? It's not like we’re gonna meet soon.. i mean yeah, we might be living at the
name village but.. what are the chances of us meeting over and over” he puffed his cheeks
and drove his way into the village, suddenly a boy rushed infront of him with their arms
spread wide.

Nani hurriedly stopped the car, making his forehead back onto the steering wheel. He
groaned and rubbed his forehead, another guy quickly rushed over and smacked the boys
head. Nani rolled down the window, hearing their argument.

“I told you to stop doing that! You’re gonna get yourself killed Gem”

“I'm not, see? I just proved myself right” Gemini points at the car and himself, showing the
few centimeters that stopped himself from getting killed. The boy beside him sighed filled
with frustrations. He quickly rushed towards Nani, bowing at a 90° angle.

“I'm sorry for that! My friend was being a careless idiot as he ALWAYS IS” he stared the last
part louder than the other, “I'M NOT” Gemini stormed towards the two. The boy pushed his
head, making him bow at a 90° angle too.

“Our village doesn’t allow cars to drive around, because it will pollute the air on this area,
please park there” The boy points at the empty space a few meters away from the village.
Nani nodded, “got it, are you alright?—“

“I AM GREAT, i have never felt better, did you know i just had a cold, fever and intense
COUGH! But I got better in a week though so that's fine, it was all because of swimming at
the beach at midnight.. never do that—“ the boy beside him closed his mouth and laughed
awkwardly.

“Don’t mind him, stop talking so much!” Gemini rolled his eyes and groaned, Nani chuckle
and smiled.

“Its okay, I’m Nani by the way”

Gemini pushed the boy away, “im Gemini! And that's Fourth, he’s a bit bossy, do you live
here? We have lived here since we were very young like veeeerrrryyyyyyyy young, we can
show you around! The village might look small— it doesn’t, but we have a lot of facilities
here! After you park your car we can help you move in too!! Which block are you staying at?
Are you that new guy who came from the city?—“

“STOP YAPPING” Fourth came charging at Gemini, shoving him away from the window, he
smiled widely.

“Please go ahead and park” Nani nodded with a laugh.

The two followed his car, “you don't have to—“ Gemini and Fourth both started to carry the
luggage and boxes in the far trunk. Nani quickly helped and took the rest of his stuffs,
locking the door. The three looked at eachother, “right”

Nani took a paper from his pocket, “i'm at.. this place” he showed the writing on the paper.

“We’ll lead you there!” Fourth exclaimed and soon the three started making their way back
into the village, talking and introducing themselves.

“So you’re a photographer?” Nani nodded, “THAT'S SO COOL, can I see some of your work
—“ “you’re so shameless you know that” “how is that shameless?!” Fourth and Gemini starts
bickering once again.

Nani smiled, seeing Dew and Tee in the two. “Are you two dating?—“

He was cut off by laughter, not a funny laughter, more to a annoyed laughter. “We two are
like brothers, Nani. You don't understand, we have been seeing each other since we are like a
baby” Gemini nodded at Fourth’s response.

Nani nodded, “what made you choose this village?”

“Well, my doctor actually recommended this village” the two frowned, “your doctor? Are
you sick?” Their faces was filled with worry.

“Ah.. well it's nothing important actually—“ Nani stumbled on a rock, causing an imbalance
in his body as the boxes swayed. A pair of arms catch his shoulders, stopping him from
crashing onto the ground.

“Chief!” Fourth and Gemini exclaimed, the hands took the boxes from Nani’s hands,
showing Sky who was smiling at the two boys beside him. “You—“ Sky turned to Nani and
smiled.

“I told you i would see you soon, are you two helping him out?” The two nodded, “where?”
Gemini points at the house a few steps away from them, Sky nodded and walked that area,
soon the three followed his lead. Nani now holds nothing but his backpack. He glances at
Sky, suddenly a shoulder nudge onto his.

“Do you and the chief know each other?” Gemini whispered, Fourth peeks from behind him.
Nani shook his head, “we just met a few minutes ago, he gave me fuel and helped me push
my car out of a pothole” the two nodded.

“Why do you call him Chief?”

“Well it's because he helps everyone in the village, he’s a life savior for real for real” Nani
nodded and glanced back at his back, puffing his cheeks.

It was currently 2 am, Nani sat up, giving up and falling asleep. He got out of the room and
wore his sandals, deciding to take a walk in the village. He found a chair not far from his
home and sat down, the chair was perfectly positioned to face the ocean, trees located around
the village. Night lights shone a warm yellow light, it was silent, he took a deep breath, the
smell of trees and flowers was strong, it in fact was so different from the city.

You can see the stars clearly from here, he closed his eyes, feeling the cold wind brush
against his bare skin. At that moment he regrets not bringing his jacket with him, who knew
the countryside would be this cold at night?

Suddenly a warm feeling touches his cheeks, he opens his eyes to see Sky pressing two heat
packs against his cheeks. Sky handed him the pack and sat down beside him, both his hands
hiding in his pockets.

Nani held the heat pack, automatically warming up his cold hands, “thank you” Sky replied
with a simple hum.

“What are you doing up at 2 am?” Nani started the conversation, glancing at Sky who had his
eyes shut.

“I no longer had calendula flowers in stock, so i went to pick some up”

“Huh?” Sky turned to Nani, not moving any of his body except his head. He showed a bag,
opening it for him, showing picked up calendula flowers inside. Nani nodded, “what are they
for?” Sky touched his tummy.

“They are high in Vitamin C and are good for your digestive system” Nani nodded once
again, silence filled in the air before Nani spoke.

“Do you know anything that can help with insomnia?” Sky glanced at Nani and nodded, “are
you having trouble with sleeping?” Nani replied with a nod. Sky looks back at the road, “i
have some in stock right now at my house, i’ll come to your house tomorrow, but for now, i
only got this, try to breath them in”

He hands a bag filled with Gardenia, Gardenia emits a fresh smell that reduces stress. Nani
held it in his hands, closing his eyes as he breath in the bag, his eyes widened and looked
towards Sky.
“It smells amazing” Sky flashes a smile, “that's good to hear” Nani continues to smell the
bag, not noticing Sky who was busy admiring him from the side. Sky then faced the stars, the
two were now eyes shut. A few hours has passed by and it was now 4 am, Sky opened his
eyes and turned to the boy beside him.

Nani's head was leaned towards the bench, hands on his lap, still holding onto the bag and
heat pack. He had seemed to have fallen asleep. Sky gently grabbed the heat pack and flower
bag.

Tuk tuk tuk..

Tuk tuk tuk..

Nani groaned at the sound of knocking, slowly getting up while rubbing his eyes, he found
himself back at his bed. He looks around, confused, looking at the time that showed him it
was 8 am.

He yawned and looked at his table, seeing the bag filled with Gardenia.

“NANI HIRUNKIT!!!—“

“Why did you scream?! What if you shock him and he gets a heart attack?!”

“Fourth.. you overthink too much, he won't die okay, chill dude. NANI HIRUNKIT WAKE
UP—“ Both Gemini and Fourth flinched when Nani opened the door, Nani leaned towards
the door, visibly sleepy and tired.

Gemini grin widely, “lets go catch some fishes” he showed his bucket.
 Passiflora
Chapter Notes

Passion flowers are purple colored flowers that help reduce anxiety, stress and insomnia.
Passionflower can be made into a tea by steeping dried passionflower in boiling water, if
too bitter to consume, honey can be added to increase the sweetness.

“GEM GEM GEM GEM WAIT WAIT”

Nani screamed as the fish began to swing back and forth, Gemini and Fourth both laughed at
Nani who was having a hard time catching a fish. Gemini walked towards him and handed
the bucket which the fish was placed at.

“You did amazing for a first timer”

“Thank you..” Nani wiped the water from his eyes, “Chief!!” Gemini waved his arms.

Fourth then greeted at the direction, Nani turned around to see Sky standing, staring at them.
“Are you catching some fish tonight?” Sky screamed, taking off his outer shirt and sandals.

“Yes!! Nani caught a big one just now!!” Gemini showed the fished, Sky looked at Nani who
smiled and gave a thumbs up.

He walked towards the three, “morning”

“Morning” Nani smiled back.

Fourth and Gemini both shot each other a glance before smiling sheepishly. Suddenly a big
fish swam pass the four. Gemini and Nani both started screaming as Nani caught the tail,
feeling his hands being swinged around. Sky held his hands for support and carried the fish
onto the bucket.

“Ohoo.. WE’RE GONNA HAVE A FEAST TONIGHT!!! IM SHOWING THIS TO THE

REST” Gemini hugged the bucket and rushed towards the land, “WAIT FOR ME— DON'T
YOU DARE TAKE ALL THE CREDIT” Fourth chase after him.

Sky and Nani both looked at each other and laughed, making their way to the shore slowly.
Nani wiped his sweat and used his sandals, handing Sky one of the towels Fourth had
brought for them.

“Here” Sky handed back a bag and a bottle of honey.

Nani took it and looked at Sky, “these are purple passion flowers, steep some in warm water
for 6 to 9 minutes and strain them, if you find it too bitter, place some honey in them to make
it sweeter. They can help with anxiety and sleep”

“Thank you” the two stared at each other with a smile on their face, “STOP FLIRTING YOU
TWO AND COME HERE!!” Gemini screamed from afar, Sky glared at him.

“SAY THAT AGAIN??” Sky runs towards him, making Gemini scream and start to run
away. Nani laughed and followed them.

Nani grabbed his towel and looked in front of the bathroom mirror, touching the scar on his
head once again. Suddenly a loud bang was heard from his kitchen, he quickly put on a t-shirt
and got out of his bathroom. Seeing Gemini and Fourth on the ground with a hotpot on the
table. They smiled, signaling Nani to sit down with them.

Fourth held the cover and placed in more greens, earning a whine from Gemini.

Nani dried his hair with the towel that was wrapped around his shoulder, a glass of warm
steam was placed in front of him. He looks up to see Sky, hair wet and messy. He points at
the glass, Nani nodded and held the glass, warming up his hands.

“Chief, look at him! The pot is now like.. 80% GREEN AND 20% FISH”

“Stop complaining, it's good for you” Fourth stick his tongue out at Gemini, steering the
soup. “Did you give some of the fish to the others?” Gemini nodded.

“I gave all of them out, for free too” Sky shows a thumbs up, “he charged 50 for each fish—“
“WHAT” Gemini raised both his hands in defeat. “Catching fish is hard work okay sir” “you
barely even caught any fish, it was all me and Nani”

“EXCUSE YOU?? I CAUGHT SOME TOO!”

“NUH UH!”

“YUH UH”

“NUH UH”

“YUH UH”

“NANI! DID HE?!” The three faced Nani, Nani blinked and clapped his hands. “Is the fish
cooked yet? I'm hungry!”

“NANIII” the two whined, “let's just sit shall we” he smiled awkwardly, “please” his hands
placed against each other. “Fine” Nani sighed in relief and glanced at Sky who was enjoying
the moment. Nani kicked his leg, earning a groan.
Suddenly the door burst open, showing a guy using a hello kitty pj. “IS THAT HOTPOT I
SMELL—“ he groaned when Fourth threw the towel on his face. “PERTH GET OUT AND
GET IN PROPERLY! You’re being disrespectful!”

“No its okay—“ “no nani” Nani shuts his mouth immediately, Perth got out of the house and
knocks on the door, soon answered by Fourth, he enters and bows. “May I enter your
majesty” Fourth point at Nani, Perth bowed once again.

“Y— yeah sure..”

“AYEEE THANKS DUDE, I’m Perth by the way!” Perth took off his sandals and make his
way towards the table. The four continued talking, Sky took Nani’s bowl and starts placing
fishes into the bowl, putting in some veggies too. He placed it in front of him, Nani looks at
him and mouthed thank you.

“SKY WONGRAVEE—“ Fourth smacked his head, “CHIEF!” He continued drinking his
soup. “Please fill in my bowl too” he grins widely, “fill it in yourself, what are you? A baby?”
Perth groaned and rolled his eyes.

“Mean” Perth stopped his way when he noticed Nani staring at him, he sat down and turned
to Nani.

“Why are you staring?” Nani points at the pj, hands holding his mouth from laughing.
“What's with the pj’s? Its so.. adorable” he cant help but start laughing. Perth looks down and
scratch his nape, ignoring the question.

“Was it Santa again?”

“Obviously yeah” Gemini replied to Fourth’s question, “Dude is the only person Perth listens
to without complaining” Nani raised his eyebrows.

“Santa is Perth’s boyfriend, he works at one of the shop here, he’s usually busy selling things
at this time, and this dude is supposed to be farming, but by the way he is dressed, he
definitely just woken up” Nani nodded.

“How did you two meet?” Nani asked Perth, his eyes immediately lit up, “oh god” Gemini
massage his temple.

“Here goes his exaggerating 3 hours talk of how we and santa fall in-love”

“OK SO IT STARTED WITH..”

“I'm coming back tomorrow!! Bye bye nani!!” Nani waved bye at the three boys walking
back to their own home, he turned to Sky who was carrying all the stuffs to the sink.

“I can wash it, its okay” Sky chuckled, “who said i'm washing it all myself? we are washing
it together”
“oh..” the two wore their gloves and started to wash the dishes, “how long have you been
staying here for?”

“Around 10 years? I guess that” Nani eyes widened, “that long? Is it because you have a
family here?” He shook his head, “my grandfather and cousins stays at the city to work, i'm
the only one living here, while my parents are abroad working” Nani nodded.

“Sky”

“Hm?”

“Do you like ice cream?” Sky turns to Nani with a confused face. “Huh?” Only earning a
wide grin from the boy.

“Here”

“Thank you”

Nani sat down at the wooden bench in front of the store, they both bit onto their popsicles,
Nani let out a cold sigh. Sky turned to him and laughed, “is it cold” he shook furiously, not
being able to reply to Sky.

“Right, I've always wanted to ask. Do you love learning about flowers and like herbs? I
notice how you know alot about them” Sky paused and nodded, “It didn’t start early though,
my grandfather and parents are both doctors, when I was younger they would always give me
all kinds of teas, I often ask them, why can’t I just drink medicine like other people? They
said that herbal tea is often seen as a safer, more natural alternative with fewer side effects—“

“—I thought that it was silly at first, but i started to help my grandfather with flowering, it
was enjoyable and flowering actually started to make me happier, especially when those
beautiful flowers can be drank for a healthy purpose”

Silence filled the air before Nani spoke, “damn”

The two broke into laughter, “so does it mean you have a lot of flowers in your home?” Sky
shook his head.

“My home doesn't hold so many flowers, there's a garden near my home where i flower
plants and flowers, villagers often visit there for the scenery, and it's where i get my herbs
and flowers” Nani eyes lit up, “is it pretty there?”

“I guess so—“ “WAIT HERE!!” He stormed off, Sky stared at the boy going further and
further away from him. Biting his popsicle as he shook his head with a smile.

A few minutes later, Nani rushed back, panting and sweating. He smiled widely and showed
his camera, “can you bring me there” Sky chuckled and stood up, “after seeing you run? How
can i say no to you, sit down and rest for a moment, catch your breath first” Nani giggled and
sat down.

“Do you like taking pictures?” The boy nodded, “its my hobby”

Sky opened the gate, allowing Nani to enter before him. Nani's jaw was dropped at the scene,
the whole park was filled with flowers and plants, a rock pathway guiding people on where to
step. Everyone was colorful and green. In the middle of the park, a huge tree was planted, the
tree had swings hanging from the branches.

He took out his camera and began taking pictures, Sky walked towards the tree and started to
climb on some markings. Sitting down at one of the thick branch, Nani went to him and took
a picture when Sky wasn’t looking.

Taking a look at the picture, he smiled, feeling satisfied with the picture.

“Nani” Nani hummed and looked ahead, seeing Sky signaling him to sit beside him. He
handed the camera to Sky, “step there” Following the markings, Sky held his arms and pulled
Nani towards him. Soon Nani was beside him.

“Woah..” he looked around, everything was clear from above, he could see the whole village
including all the beautiful plants surrounding the village, not to mention how there is an
ocean near the village.

It was a dream come true.

“Pretty?” Nani nodded, looking at Sky with a wide grin.

“It's beautiful” he looked towards the park again, Sky leaned on the stem and smiled, still
looking at the boy who was capturing the moment.

“it really is”

The wind blows towards their face, making their hair flow with the wind direction. Sky
frowned, seeing a small scar slowly showing itself on Nani’s head. “Nani, what’s that—“ he
reached out, Nani flinched and backed away.

Holding his head. Sky froze and pulled his hands back, “sorry i didn’t mean to—“ he stopped
talking.

“No don’t apologize, its— its alright” Nani looked away, his hands still on his head. Sky
stared at the boy, his eyes softened when he recall how the boy in front of him flinched so
hard.

“Do you want to go back now?” Nani nodded, doing a quick glance at Sky.

“Alright, let's go then, i’ll go down first, wear your camera in case it falls down” Sky jumped
down from the previous markings. Extending his hands, “step here and place your hands on
my shoulder for support” Sky held onto Nani’s arm as the boy jumped down.

Stumbling towards his embrace, “you alright?” Nani nodded and backed away. Sky cleared
his throat and scratched his nape, “le- lets go then”. Nani nodded again, both of them
avoiding each other’s gaze.

Nani leaned towards the bed board, staring at the bag of flowers on his hands, he breathed
deeply and sighed. His hands slowly reached over to his head, he closed his eyes, feeling his
breath getting heavier and heavier as memories started to take over slowly.

“THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT! WHY COULDN'T YOU JUST STAY SILENT?!”

The feeling of a pair of hands pushing him against the wall, his head hits the counter, cutting
his head. He remembered how it felt, the sharp pain on his head, his ears ringing and the
sound of screaming from his own family.

Nani opened his eyes, startled from the sound of knocking. He opens the door, seeing Sky
standing in front of the door, his hands reaching out, showing a dandelion.

“I hope.. everythings alright. Here—“ he held Nani’s hands and placed them on his palm, “—
they said "if you make a wish and blow a dandelion, there will be a high chance of your wish
coming true” Nani looked at the dandelion on his hands and at Sky.

“I know it's silly i—“ Nani closed his eyes, Sky stared at the boy in front of him. He took out
another dandelion, closing his eyes.

‘I wish to forget about that day’

‘Please protect everyone in this village from bad things, especially Nani’

The two eyes opened at the same time, blowing onto the flower, watching as the flower heads
floated away. Nani looked over to Sky, the two smiling.

Chapter Notes

Birthday is a special celebration marking the anniversary of someone’s birth. It’s a day
filled with joy, love, and personal reflection, and is a reminder of the passage of time, a
reflection on growth, and a moment to express gratitude for life’s experiences. It’s a day
to cherish and celebrate one’s existence, to connect with loved ones, and to embrace the
new year of life ahead.

“Cmon dear, don’t be afraid” A woman dressed in a white dress reached out his hands
towards a 6 y/o Nani, Nani peeked from behind the dress. Seeing a man standing in front of
his mother, looking at him with a smile.

He walks towards the man who kneeled in front of him and caressed his head, “hey Nani, im
glad to be part of your family” Nani’s mother held onto the man’s shoulder with a smile.

“I’ll protect you from all the bad things, forever”

Nani covered his ears, knees bent towards his chest, the sound of screaming echoed around
the small house. A few years after his mother remarried, the man started to gamble with her
money, losing so much money that they had to sell their home to live in a smaller home. Since
that day on, his father never talked so much, not until his anger always took over and ends up
hitting him and his mother.

He had always begged his mother to report him to the police, she never did, she never fought
back, even after finding out what her “husband” was doing to her own child.

Suddenly a loud noise came from the kitchen, it sounded like a broken glass, Nani rushed out
of his bedroom, seeing his mother on the floor and his father standing on top of her, hands
clenching onto her collar.

“Mom!” He pushed the man aside, checking his mother who was just staring at him with
wide eyes, a hand pushed him to the side, choking him until everything started to get darker
and soon collapsed.

“We will be keeping him in prison for 5 years” the police officer bowed before leaving the
doorstep, Nani held onto his mother’s shirt.
“Mom.. he’s gone now—“ he froze, seeing his mother tearing up, she looked towards him.

The boy took a step back, started by the look his mother had given him, her eyes filled with so
much hatred and pain.

“WHY DID YOU DO IT?!”

“NANI HIRUNKITTTTTTTTTTTTT— I'm telling you something is happening!!”

“W-what..” his voice trembled, taking a step back with every step his mother took towards
him.

“What's going on?” “Chief! We have been screaming his name for 30 minutes, he usually
gets up after the third knock” “wait here, i'm going in”

“HOW COULD YOU?! HE IS YOUR FATHER—“

“Nani?”

“But he was hurting us mom— i dont understand..”

“That's the way he showed us he loved us!”

“Nani Hirunkit!”

Nani shook his head, the only person he ever relied on and believed in all his life, insane.. his
own mother had gone insane and he felt every little piece of him disappearing.

“Mom—“

“THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT! WHY COULDN'T YOU JUST STAY SILENT?!—“

Nani gasped, feeling his body getting shaken by, he opened his eyes to see Sky looking at
him, eyes filled with worry.

“It's okay, it's okay, I'm here, breathe” he held Nani’s hands, seeing the boy breathing heavily,
and eyes teary.

Nani closed his eyes, trying to control his breath when he felt Sky’s hands wiping the sweat
off his face. He opens his eyes, feeling so much tenderness from the boy's touch. Sky softly
smiled but his eyes told another story. Nani felt his eyes tearing up in every caress.

“Is everything okay?!” Gemini barged in, Nani quickly wiped his tears while Sky stood up
and turned to Gemini, blocking Nani from his view.

“Yeah, he was in a deep sleep, he must be tired from yesterday fishing”

“I told you to not push him till his limits!” Fourth kicked Gemini’s leg, Gemini rolled his
eyes and went towards Nani but was blocked by Sky.
“Go and heat up the food i brought, i placed it on the counter, Nani needs to wash up before
starting the day”

“Right” Gemini and Sky stared at each other, Gemini eyes squinted and Sky who was just
staring blankly. “Did you not hear the chief?!” “OUCH OUCH OUCH” Fourth pulled
Gemini to the kitchen by his ears.

Nani glanced towards Sky who walked out of the room, closing the door behind him. He
sighed and leaned towards his palm.

“Where are we going?” Nani locked the door, turning towards the three who was already
looking at him. Gemini grinned widely, “we are going.. FARMING!!!!! HURRY HURRYY!
Santa and Perth are waiting for us!!” He runs away, soon Sky follows him leaving Fourth and
Nani.

The two walk together, Fourth kept sneaking glances, opening and closing his mouth as if he
was unsure about asking a question. Nani laughed quietly, “if there is something you want to
ask just ask, its okay” Fourth scratch his nape from embarrassment.

“Are you alright, you know just now.. because i could see that you were sweating, like alot
and your hands were shaking so much”

Nani turns to him, seeing nothing but genuine worry from his face, Nani smiles and nudges
his shoulder. “Everything's fine, it was just a nightmare” Fourth nodded, not wanting to push
Nani to answer more of his questions.

“How about you?” “Huh?” “I saw the way you look at Gemini when we were eating”

Fourth, looking towards Nani, startled, Nani started to wiggle his eyebrows. Fourth
immediately looked away, feeling his ears heating up rapidly.

“You like him don't you!” Nani poked his waist, Fourth yelped and poked Nani back. He pit
his finger in front of his lips, telling Nani to be quiet.

“Why won’t you tell him?—"

“Are you kidding me?! I don't want to ruin what we have right now.. after all, i don't think he
sees me as more than a best friend. Im happy enough to be beside him as a friend—“ Fourth
turned to Nani, “—why are you smiling at me”

Nani shook his head and looked ahead, “nothing, its cute, you remind me of my best freind
who lives in the city, secretly having a crush on his friends for ages but refuses to confess or
show any affection. All they do is just quarrel—“ the two turned to Gemini who stopped
walking and made a loud gasp.

“What is your problem..”

“ ARE YOU REPLACING ME WITH NANI NOW?!” “Wha— huh?? No?? You— I
SWEAR TO GOD IF YOU START SULKING FOR ONE WEEK AGAIN— GEMINI”
Fourth turns to Nani with a whine.

“Go go” Nani mouthed before Fourth chase after Gemini.

“STOP PRESSURING ME”

Nani glanced at the two, shaking his head with a laugh. Suddenly Perth came towards them,
“eh? Where’s Santa?” Sky peeked from behind the tree.

“He's sick, he said his stomach hurts, food poisoning or something.. but i dont understand
from what because we ate the same thing”

“Did you buy him some medicine?” Pertch scratch his nape, “you do know the nearest
pharmacy is a 1 hours drive, Santa would kill me if i wasted the fuel for that”

“Do we have ginger?” They all looked at Nani confused by the sudden question, “Ginger is
rich in a variety of beneficial plant chemicals called phytochemicals which helps reduce
nausea and vomiting”

“Right, yes yes ginger, you two stop being useless and find some ginger! It's around there”
the three started running towards the southern area of the farm, Sky walked towards Nani
with a proud smile.

Nani tilt his head with raised eyebrows, “what?”

“Nothing” he smiled and looked away, Nani scoffed and smiled, nudging his shoulder. The
two started making their way towards the rest. “How long did you sleep for?” Nani hummed.

“4 hours”

“Still having a hard time?” Nani nodded which was followed by Sky afterwards.

“I FOUND THE GINGER!!—“ Fourth smacked Gemini’s head, “cant you tell a difference
with galangal and ginger?! THAT'S A GALANGAL DUMBASS”

“isn't galangal the same as ginger?” Everyone continued searching for the ginger, ignoring
the dumbfounded boy.

“Galangal is a rhizome of the plants in the ginger family but its not ginger—“
“galangal is in the ginger family but isn’t a ginger????— Chief are you hearing yourself right

“FINALLY” Fourth pushed Gemini out of the way running towards Perth who has the ginger,
Nani and Sky both sighed at Gemini and walked away.

“Thank you” Santa smiled and drank the tea prepared by Nani, Gemini and Fourth started
whining making sure Santa is alright, making the boy more stressed out.

be sick.. EAT THEN! PERTH WHAT KIND OF BOYFRIEND ARE YOU?! FEED YOUR
LOVER— oh you are already? Right, that's how you get food poisoning.. PERTH HOW
DARE YOU POISON YOUR LOVER?!” “GEMINI SHUT THE HELL UP”

“Nani” Nani raised his eyebrows when Perth started signaling him to the kitchen where there
are only the two of them, Sky frowned at the sight.

“What's wrong?” “The thing is, tomorrow is Santa’s birthday—“ Nani gasped, “really?!” He
whispered, Perth nodded. “I wanted to buy him a cake and give him a surprise but as you can
see my plan backfired when he suddenly got food poisoning, so can you do me a favor?”

“Of course! Always! What do you need help with?”

“Go to this store a few minute drive away from here, i have a cake from my name, i have
ordered beforehand so you don't have to pay it, just take it and bring it back” he hand a paper
with the information.

Nani nodded furiously, “I will help you”

“Help with what?” Nani and Perth both jumped from their feet, turning to Sky who was
leaning on the door with his arms crossed.

“Stop being so nosy, chief!” Sky raised his eyebrows, Nani and Perth both shared glances.

“We’re here” Sky and Nani both got off the car and went into the store, Nani looked around
in awe from the beautiful interior design. “Are you here to buy or take?”

“I’m here to take a cake by the name of Perth?” “Okay please wait, I will go and get it” Nani
nodded, looking at the other cake they are selling. His eyes got caught to a strawberry cake
which Sky noticed.

“You can buy it if you want it”

“Here is your cake” the cashier came back, Nani pointed at the strawberry cake, “can i have a
slice of this?”

“Oh sorry but we don't sell slices, we sell the whole cake immediately” Nani nodded, puffing
his cheeks up, seeing at how much a whole cake caused he ends up not buying it, “alright
then, thank you” he took the cake and walked out of the store. Sky glanced at the strawberry
cake before a small smile appeared on his lips.

“I miss you so much already— you know what? Without you Tee wont stop bullying and
attacking me, i swear—“

“EXCUSE YOU?!”

“YOU SEE THAT? YOU SEE HOW EVIL HIS EYES LOOKED?!”

Nani walked out of the bedroom to go to his living room, laughing at his best-friend. The
other line of the call sounded like a dog and cat fight. He turned towards the window, seeing
a figure walking towards his house. He squinted his eyes, seeing Sky who was about to knock
on the door.

“Guys, i'm gonna go first, someone is coming to my place”

“This late? Ok then, stay safe Nan, bye byee”

“Thank you, you guys stay safe too. Byee” the call ended, Nani made his way towards the
door and opened the door the moment he heard knocking. Sky flinched from how quick the
boy answered.

“What’s wrong?” Sky didn’t reply with anything but a smile, “wear your jacket, i wanna
bring you somewhere” Nani frowned.

Soon the two arrived at a park, it was a different garden from before. The views were covered
by weeping willow trees.

“Be careful, there are a few mud holes here” Sky reached his hands out, helping Nani with
crossing the mud towards the grass. They got closer towards the trees, the trees were huge,
way taller than they were. Sky pushed the leaves aside, showing an area close by a small
pond with water lilies.

A few steps away from them was two long woods used as a chair and a thick piece of stem
used as a table. Nani gagged at the sight, walking towards the table. Not far from there was a
bigger stem with writings carved on it. He stepped closer and saw names written all over it.
Gemini, Fourth, Santa, Perth and more.

“Nani” he turns around to see Sky sitting on the chair with a cake on the table, the candle
lighting up the atmosphere, blending seemingly to Sky’s face.
“I know it's not your birthday but I just wanted to gift you the cake—“ Nani hugs him,
enough to shut the boy up, “THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU”

“W— why are you crying?” Nani separated the hug, looking at the cake while wiping his
tears that were continually flowing down his cheeks. The truth was, Nani’s mother had been
so busy ever since she remarried he had never celebrated his birthday ever since or was given
a cake.

Once he wanted to buy for himself a cake to celebrate his birthday, but the cake was soon
thrown away by his step father who made him believe he doesn’t deserve a cake or to even
celebrate the day he was born.

Nani looked towards Sky, his eyes shining from the reflection of the candle and tears. Sky
raised his eyebrows sensing the boy wanting to ask something.

“Wasn’t the cake expensive?” He sniffled, Sky smiled softly and tilt his head. “I can buy
everything you want, Nani. If you wanted the whole store, I would buy the whole store for
you. Do not worry about the price—“ he ruffled Nani’s hair “—Well go on then, make a
wish”

Nani nodded and closed his eyes, pressing his hands against each other.

‘Please bring happiness to all my friends’

He opens his eyes and blows the candle. Sky leans towards his palm, “what did you wish
for?” Nani turns to him and pursed his lips.

“If I tell you it wont come true..” the guy laughed and looked ahead.

Ylang ylang is known for its exotic, floral aroma that is deeply relaxing and calming,
making it a good choice for soothing frayed nerves and calming the nervous system.

Nani yawns, stretching his arms after clicking the ‘post’ button on his laptop. He takes his
phone and jumps on the bed. Looking at the clock, it was currently 10 pm.

“CHIEF CHIEF YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT I FOUND” Gemini came rushing into
Sky’s home, Sky who was preparing some herbs turn to him, Gemini kneeled beside him
showing his phone for Sky to see.

“LOOK! Doesn’t it look familiar??” He showed a picture of the big tree located in their
village garden, “IT'S THE TREE! OUR TREE!! I feel like this is Nani’s account! I can’t
believe I have been meeting my idol for weeks and didn’t even realize!” Sky took the phone
out of his hands.

Scrolling through the account, “i'm telling you! It's Nani’s account! And look at this, at first i
was shock because ‘strawberry cake’ never post about human photography, its all scenic but
the recent one has! And dont the person in the picture look familiar to you?”

Sky turned towards Gemini and nodded, “ITS YOU! IT'S A PICTURE OF YOUR
SHADOW SITTING ON THE TREE! You’re so lucky Sky.. I'm gonna dress up from
tomorrow so i can end up at his page—“ Sky took a bag of flowers and walks out of his
house, “—and you’re gone” Gemini scratch his nape and took his phone.

Nani hides his hands into his pocket, shivering from the cold wind smacking his face back to
his senses. It was around 2 am when he decided to take a walk. Walking his usual path, he
kicked every small rock he spotted on the ground. One of the rocks tumbled and hit
something. Looking up to see Sky, smiling at him.

“Having trouble sleeping again?” Nani grins widely.

“Here” Sky gives out a bag, sitting down beside the boy. Nani breathed into the bag and
looked towards Sky, eyes wide. “What’s this?”

“Ylang-ylang, it can help relax the body by lowering blood pressure and heart rate, which can
be helpful for mental well-being and sleep” Nani nodded and continued breathing in the
flower and sighed deeply.
“Do you like researching herbs too?” Nani raised his eyebrows, “not really, why??”

“You seem to know about some herbs well, especially when Santa was sick”

“Aaa, I learned it in school, although I wish I could learn about more herbs, but after meeting
you—“ he nudged Sky’s shoulder “—I started learning about various flowers and herbs” he
leaned his head towards Sky’s with a wide smile before looking away.

Sky covered his lips and looked away, smiling ear to ear as his cheeks heated up. “If you
want to.. you can come to my house, I have almost all the herbs there” Nani turned to him
almost immediately, eyes sparkling.

“Really??? Right now??” Sky nodded, which was soon followed by Nani. “Alright, let’s go
then? Right, your hand” Nani reached out his hands, Sky then placed a heat pack on top of
his palm.

“Lets go” He walked off, Nani looked down at his hands that were no longer freezing then
towards Sky. “Wait for me!” He catches up with him.

“Woah what’s that?”

“Hm?” Nani points at the huge cottage house a few miles away from them, Sky turns to him
and points at himself.

“My home” Nani eyes widened, “what’s wrong?” Nani shook his head and scratched his nape
looking at the house that seemed to be bigger the closer they walk towards it.

‘I thought he didn’t have much money..’ he glanced towards Sky who was using a simple
clothing, hair messy, then towards the house that was right in front of him. He shrugged it off,
Sky unlocks the door and opened it, opening the cupboard and taking out two pairs of
sandals.

Nani looks around the house in awe, holding onto Sky’s hands while he uses the sandals, he
rushed towards the living room looking around with his hands covering his mouth. The house
was covered with wooden floors and had so much space and furniture. Right behind the
house was a garden filled with so many plants and flowers.

He touched the window, looking outside, Sky placed the shoes on the cupboard and leaned
towards the wall, staring at the boy. He clicked the button beside him, turning on the garden
lights. He walks towards Nani, “do you want to go out?” Nani turned to him, nodding
furiously.

He laughed and opened the door, leading to the garden. After a few minutes of exploring the
garden, the two end up sitting down at the bench.

“You have so many plants here, why did you have to go to the park to get more last time?”
Sky raised his eyebrows and looked away, “my home didn’t have enough last time do i had to
take more” Nani mouthed a ‘O’ shape and leaned back.

“Its sad” “hm?” Nani turns to Sky, “this village name is ‘lily of the valley’ but i don’t see any
lily of the valley around here” he puffed his cheeks. “Do you like lily of the valley?” Nani
replied with a nod and looked ahead,

“it's pretty.. the bell-shaped flower, it looks like a lantern, and the pure white color is so..
alluring. Did you know, lily of the valley symbolizes purity, humility, and the return of
happiness, and in some cultures, it also represents sweetness, happiness, and the idea of ‘a
way to bring joy’—“ Nani paused, suddenly feeling nervous as he turn and saw Sky leaning
towards the bench while staring so deeply into him with a smile.

“Other than lily of the valley what do you like?” Sky questions.

“Taking photos of the scenery” Sky raised his brows, “what kind of scenery do you enjoy
taking pictures of the most?”

“Like.. my favorite thing?” Sky nodded, Nani thought for a moment.

“I like.. sky” Nani froze the moment he realized what he just said, “hm?” He turns to see Sky
who was already smiling, “i— i mean the sky as in the blue sky— you—“ he froze.

“hm?” Nani looks away and pushed Sky's face towards the other direction, “you should stop
staring at people like that..” he closed his eyes feeling a regret in starting this conversation,
“..it makes the other person nervous to talk” Sky froze and soon held in his laugh with his
hands. Looking at Nani who was avoiding eye contact.

“Silly” he stands up, “i'm going to make some tea, do you want to come or stay here?” Nani
turns to face him before throwing his face again, “i’ll stay here” Sky chuckles and ruffles his
hair.

“Okay” he walks back into the house, Nani turned as his figure disappeared, he held his head
then proceeds to hold both his warm cheeks and cover his face towards the arm rest.

A few minutes passed by, Sky walked into the garden with a cup of tea in his hands, he tilted
his head while getting closer towards the boy who seemed to have fallen asleep. He placed
the cup on the small table beside the bench. Checking if the boy was comfortable, his whole
body froze when Nani’s body turned to face him, still fast asleep.

He leaned on the bench and gently pushed the hair away from his face, Nani mumbled softly
and moved, falling towards Sky’s shoulder. Sky looked away, covering his wide smile as he
closed his eyes, trying his best to not move.

“Mm.. roasted turkey..” Sky turns to Nani, “roasted turkey..” he bit his lips trying his best to
not burst out laughing. “Do you want roasted turkey?” He whispered, “I want..” Sky leaned
his head back, smiling like a complete fool.

“Chief!! I got what you told me to get!! Eh? Chief?”

“What's wrong?”

“How come I don't see Chief, he’s usually awake this time” Gemini looks at the clock, 9 am.
Gemini and Fourth both took off their shoes and replaced it with sandals before entering the
house. Fourth placed the plastic onto the table before flinching when Gemini gasped loudly.

“What is your problem?!—“ “SHH SHH” Gemini covered Fourth’s mouth and points at the
garden while jumping.

“What— oh.my.god. Take your phone out right now, right now! faster!”

“Wait wait!”

After taking some pictures, they posted it in the village group chat and stared at the picture
while giggling like Highschool teenagers seeing the villagers reaction.

‘Who’s that?!’
‘The chief has finally found himself a cute boyfriend?!?!’
‘Is that the new guy??’
‘He's not new! He has been here for months!’

“HIHIHIHIHIHIHIHI—“ “what are you two doing”

Gemini and Fourth both jumped on the spot and turned around slowly, seeing Sky stretching
his shoulders while staring at them. They both chuckle nervously, “Gemini was the one who
took the picture!” “Excuse me?!—“

“Stop quarreling and heat up the turkey, you bought the roasted one right?”

“Yepp” Sky signals him to head to the kitchen, going back to the garden to piggyback the
sleeping boy to the bedroom.

Nani rubbed his eyes, stretching and yawning as he sat up. Looking around the unfamiliar
room, recalling how he fell asleep in Sky's bedroom, he quickly got out of bed. He covered
his face and hit his head. Flinching when the door suddenly opened, Sky flinched when he
saw Nani just standing at the corner of the room.

“You— you’re awake?” Nani peeks from his hands and smiles, “yeah..” Sky chuckled from
his behavior. “Go wash up, theres food downstairs, i have prepared all the things you need in
the restroom” Nani nods and stormed to the bathroom. Sky scratch his nape, completely
beaming.

“WOAH THERE’S A LOT OF FOOD TODAY—“ “wait! Let me take a pic first!” Phuwin
pushed Pond's hands from grabbing fries. Pond whined and sat back down.
“By the way Gem, where’s Sky?”

“Up stairs probably” he said, mouth full of mochi, Joong looked at the stairs and nodded
before taking one mochi from Gemini’s hands. “THATS MINE!” “Not anymore” He shoved
it into his mouth and stuck his tongue out before groaning when Dunk smacked the back of
his head.

“Stop teasing him Joong” Gemini points middle finger towards Joong with a sly smile,
“Gemini did you wash your hands beforehand? you’re so dirty you know that?” Gemini
rolled his eyes and walked towards the sink.

Sky walks down the stairs, seeing his kitchen filled with people. They all greeted him as he
did back, walking towards the kitchen to prepare some warm tea. Suddenly the whole room
went silent, Sky frowned and peeked from the kitchen, seeing everyone staring as Nani
walked down the stairs moments after Sky did, wearing Sky’s clothes.

Sky rubbed his nose, smiling from ear to ear.

“Um.. hi” Nani waved awkwardly, “GOOD MORNING NANIII” Fourth and Gemini runs
towards Nani pushing him towards the table, “everyone, nani, nani, everyone” Nani bowed
and sat down.

“This is Joong, Dunk, Pond, Phuwin, Perth and santa is not here today”

“Shouldn’t we be the one introducing ourselves” Gemini stick his tongue out at Joong who
scoffed and threw his head, “Im Joong, let’s be friends” he reached his hands out which Nani
took and shook.

“Stop talking and eat, the food is gonna get cold” Sky got out from the kitchen, placing the
warm tea in front of Nani before sitting at the empty seat. Joong nudges Pond, seeing the
small interaction. Nani looked around, his eyes widening when he saw roasted turkey. Sky
noticed and leaned closer to whisper.

“What’s wrong? Did you just dream about eating it?” Nani turned to him eyes wide, “did..
did i talk when i was sleeping” Sky shrugged his shoulders earning a kick on his leg.

“Look at the time” Nani turned to see 10.30 am, “you slept for 6 hours today” He smiled
widely. It was the longest he had slept for in years. Nani took his phone out the moment he
heard a notification, seeing his doctor sending a message to him.

‘It's been 6 months since your stay at the village, has your sleep time gotten better?’
‘Yes it has, i had 6 hours of sleep today’
‘That's a good news, please come back tomorrow, I have prepared some medicines for you to
take, if not then, its alright. But the sooner the better’
‘Ok, thank you doc’

“Right, Nani, since you’re temporarily staying here, when will you be going back to the
city?” Nani turns to Joong, “tomorrow”
“HAH???”

“WHAT?! SO FAST?! SO SUDDEN?!?!” Gemini slammed the table, Fourth followed him
with slamming the table. Nani chuckled at them and frowned slightly, “what’s wrong?”

“How come you just tell us now..” They pouted and whined, “are you never coming back?”

“I will come back, but just.. not sure when, i have things to take care of too i'm the city”

“NANI” Gemini cried and got off his seat rushing to hug Nani, followed by Fourth. The two
seemed to have attached themselves to the guy, Nani glances towards Sky who was looking
at him, his expression was hard to read. Sky looked away and continued eating while Nani
continued reassuring the two boys.

“Chief, aren’t you sad at all that Nani is tomorrow?” Sky didn’t reply to Gemini’s question
and proceeded to wash the dishes.

“Chief we all know you like him” Silence again, “CHIEF!—“ Sky touched Gemini whole
face with the soapy gloves, making his face covered with soap.

“You’re so noisy, do you know that? Go wash your face”

“CHIEF— YOU— CHIEF!” Gemini stormed out of the kitchen to the bathroom, Sky sighed
and shook his head, continuing what he was doing. He looked at the clock then took off the
gloves.

Walking towards the room where he keeps all his herbs and dried flowers are, he stared at the
bags of flowers that were placed on the table.

“Finally..” Nani stretched his arms, taking his phone as he leaned on the bed after packing his
clothes. It was currently 10 PM, and the day went on too quickly today. Gemini and Fourth
stayed in his house for a couple of hours and helped him pack up and play some games. Perth
and Santa came to visit to say buy and give some fruits. He didn’t want to leave the village,
but the house he was staying at does belong to the doctor.

He didn’t want to burden the doctor, so he closed his phone and glanced at the table, seeing
182 bags of herbs on his table. At this point his table was filled with the bags more than his
own stuff, he sat down and leaned on his palm. Fidgeting with the string.

His phone buzzed, showing a message from Sky.

‘Are you home right now?’

‘Yes, what's wrong?’
‘Come outside, i want to give you something’
Nani frowned and closed his phone, wearing a jacket as he got out the bedroom and towards
the entrance door. He opens it to see Sky standing a few steps away from the door stairs. He
was looking around the alley.

“Sky”

Sky turns to the voice and smiles, Nani walks towards him, taken aback when Sky hands him
a bag. He raised his eyebrows at the boy, “open it” Nani unzips the bag to see the same bags
that were on his table. He turns to Sky who was scratching his nape and looking away.

“I was planning to give you one everyday, but since you’re leaving tomorrow, I decided to
give the rest i was planning to give today all in the bag, and uh. This” he took out a
handkerchief from his pocket, unwrapping it to show a keychain with lily of the valley flowers
hanging from it.

“I know this village doesn’t have any real one, and i hope this could make it up for it” he
took Nani’s hands and placed it on his palm, “try to rest early, you need to drive a lot
tomorrow. Bye bye” Nani stared at the keychain on his hands then towards Sky.

He pursed his lips and smiled, “bye..” he turned around. Walking towards his doorstep, up
the stairs. Sky looked away, glancing down the street. Nani stopped his track and turned
around, Sky noticed the small shift and turned to Nani.

“Before I leave.. can I ask for a.. goodbye hug..” he mumbled softly, almost like he was
embarrassed to ask for one. Completely fazed, Sky slowly nodded, his hands raising in the
same pace as Nani raised his hands to hug his waist. Sky looked up, his hands not touching
Nani bur instead clenching in mid air.

Soon after Nani separated the hug, saying “good night” before rushing back into his house.

Sky rubbed his nape and sighed, feeling his face getting warm. He clenched onto his shirt and
stared at the house.

Nani got out of the restroom, sitting down at the bed as he took out his phone. Sending a
message,

‘Have you arrived home yet? Or are you still walking around the village?’
‘Im home already, are you nof going to sleep yet? Its almost 12’
‘I'm about to sleep, goodnight’

Sky stared at the conversation and glanced at the light up window, clothes his phone and hid
it in his pocket. After a few seconds, the light closes showing a sign that Nani had closed the
light. He smiled and walked back to his house.
