Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Science 1

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to:

A. To Identify each picture where they belong in "3Rs" and how they can
be a good steward of the Earth;
B. To Appreciate the importance of three different’s 3R’s ( Reduce,
Reuse and
Recycle) in our daily lives;
C. To Demonstrate at least one of the 3R’s ( Reduce, Reuse and
Recycle).

II. Subject Matter:

A. Title: The three R's of Waste Management

B. References : Science 1 Textbook
C. Materials: Video Presentation, Power Point Presentation and Laptop
D. Science Processing Skills: Communicating and Explanation

III. Procedures:
A. Greetings
B. Prayer
C. Classroom Management
D. Checking of Attendance
E. Review
Asks the pupils about being discussed yesterday which is “types of
matter”
1. Who among you here can still remember what are the 3 Types
ofMatters?
2. What are the difference between Solid, Liquid and Gas?

F. Motivation
The Teacher will let the pupils to watch the short video presentation and
listen about the “ Story of Reuse”

The Teacher will ask the question to the pupils:

Motivation question: What did you learned about the Story of Reuse?

G. Presentation:

Lesson Proper/ Discussion:

Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle helps in reducing the amount of carbon-di-oxide

in the atmosphere and save the environment. You can also be a part of this
mission just by making a few changes in your daily lifestyle.

Reduce – The First “R” of Waste Hierarchy

The first R in the waste hierarchy is “Reduce.”

The crucial thing in the waste management
procedure is to maintain a perfect balance in
consumption and recycle & reuse. If the
consumption is less, the rate of recycling or
reuse will also be less.

Reuse – The Second “R” of Waste Hierarchy

If you have a bag full of old things that are not

in use, then you can find out a way to reuse
these thrown away things. The reuse of old
stuff can reduce waste and does not affect the
waste hierarchy. If you do not have any use of
any of these thrown away items, then you can
also donate it to someone who needs it.

Recycle – The Third “R” of Waste Hierarchy

Recycling is the third stage of the waste

management process. Recycling is a process in which the dumping items are
transformed into a new item. You can also send your unused items to recycling

centers. It is vital that you are well aware. of the

things that can be recycled.
H. Generalization:

The teacher will asks the pupils about the following questions:

1. What are the 3R’s?

2. What is the importance of the 3R’s in your daily lives?
I. Activity:

The pupils need to know the three R's (reducing material usage, reusing materials
and recycling used materials) helps us protect the environment. Students identify
which of the three R's is the best way to deal with each item pictured.

Instruction:Circle the best way to help the environment for each picture if

J. Analysis

The teacher will be call the student who wants to answer the activity and asking
Why it is important's of the 3R's?

K. Abstraction

The teacher will discuss the Reduce,Reuse and Recycle by asking the
following questions:

1. What is the meaning of the 3Rs?

2. What is the Importance of three Rs?

-The 3R Initiative aims to promote the "3Rs" (reduce, reuse and recycle) globally so
as to build a sound-material-cycle society through the effective use of resources and
materials.

- The three R's are the foundations of environmental stewardship. These simple
concepts are a good place to start when teaching environmental issues to young
children. Practicing the three R's helps with conservation of energy and resources as
well as landfill diversion

IV. Application

Divide the class into three groups. Each group will choose in "3Rs". After 5 minutes
of preparation, each group will demonstrate what they have been chosen in front of
the class.

V. Evaluation

Directions: Identify each picture where they belong in "3Rs" and how they can
be a good steward of the Earth.
