Form Work

The document outlines the considerations for formwork design, including factors such as slab weight, joist spacing, and material choices. It specifies the use of 12 mm thick plywood and discusses the arrangement of joists, girders, and beams for a ground floor RC slab. Additionally, it provides calculations for beam moments and dimensions relevant to the construction project.

Form work depend on many factors , at the same time you can say a large variety of choices the designer
have.

First of all weight of slab + construction Load 30 psf ( I usually apply )

Spacing of joist due to 12 mm or 16 mm or 20 mm thick Plywood

Arrangement of Tee and / or joist and girder ?

Storey height

For the the case , I am given Ground floor , 8” RC slab

And I decided joist and girder and Tee for RC beam.

Technology is advancing , and new materials .

For the case 12 mm thick Plywood is to be applied ( given )

2’ - 3’ span is okay .

I assume 12 ‘/ 5 = 2.4 ft span

Joist Size ?

For 2.4 ft 130x2.5 = 325 plf

Girder are to be spaced according to Joist size ,

Sat Hollow 3x1 ½” x1.6 mm are available .

Its parameters are

75x45 x1.6 x2.88 kg/m

A=3.672 cm 2

I= 28.4 cm 4

S =13.6 cm3

BM ( working ) = Sx140

= 13.6 x103 x 140

= 1.9 kN-m

BM = 4.743 kN/m xL2/8

1.9 = L2x 4.743 /8

L = 1.8 m

= 6 ft

For beam = 3 ft

For slab = Joist 2.4 ft c/c

Girder = 6ft c/c

Post under beam 3 ft ( 2.4 ft other )

Under slab 6 c/c
