What happens if you do not provide the information in time

Providing personal identifiers is only one of several stages in the visa assessment process.
Providing your personal identifiers promptly can help us to process your application more
quickly.

If you do not provide your personal identifiers within the time we have given, and the
requirement to provide personal identifiers is not withdrawn, your visa application may be
refused under section 65 of the Migration Act because the grant of a visa is prevented under
section 40 of the Migration Act.

If you are unable to provide your personal identifiers within the time we have given, you
should attach a letter to your ImmiAccount explaining why and request an extension.

If you did not submit your application through ImmiAccount

You can still provide your documents through ImmiAccount if you submitted a paper
application or if someone else submitted your application online for you.

Follow these steps:

1 Create your own ImmiAccount.
2 Import your application. Our website has instructions on how to do this
www.homeaffairs.gov.au/immiaccount
3 Attach your documents.

Incapable persons
An incapable person means a person who is incapable of understanding the general nature
and effect of, and purposes of, a requirement to provide a personal identifier. An example is
a person with intellectual disability.

If someone included in this application is an incapable person, you may need to provide
evidence of this. For more information, contact the Department immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/
help-support/contact-us/offices-and-locations

A person considered an incapable person will only need to provide a photograph of their face
and shoulders.

A parent or guardian must be present when personal identifiers of an incapable person

are collected. If a parent or guardian cannot be present, please contact the Department
immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-support/contact-us/offices-and-locations
