       a. In your opinion, should the government prioritize legal reforms that support individual
rights even if they conflict with religious beliefs? Explain.
Yes, because even though religious beliefs are important, the state has a duty to ensure
the safety and well-being of its citizens. Laws should reflect the changing needs of
society and offer people the chance to escape harmful relationships.
       b. Do you think legalizing divorce will weaken or strengthen Filipino family values? If so,
          why?
It can strengthen Filipino values because it allows individuals to leave toxic or abusive
marriages, which can lead to more stable and loving family environments.
       c. Imagine you are a policymaker in the Philippines. How would you address the concerns
of religious groups while also ensuring legal protections for individuals in abusive or
          unhappy marriages?
I would communicate with religious leaders and listen to their concerns. I would try to
help them understand that the proposed divorce law aims to assist individuals in abusive
or unhappy marriages not to undermine the value of marriage itself. I would also suggest
a mandatory interview for those seeking a divorce to determine if it is appropriate. This
way we can respect religious beliefs while also providing necessary safety for those who
           need it.
II. Look into a recent real-life case in the Philippines where law, religion, and culture come into
conflict. Analyze the situation and argue which of these three sources of authority is most
       applicable. Justify your answer.
The debate over same-sex marriage in the Philippines highlights a conflict between law,
religion, and culture. People want to have their relationship recognized legally while the
Catholic Church opposes it citing Genesis 2:24 which states that marriage is between a
       man and a woman.
Culturally, many Filipinos value family and community. This means that relationships
typically follow traditional patterns, often focusing on heterosexual marriages. Many believe
that marriage should only involve a man and a woman, which leads to resistance against
       recognizing same-sex unions.
The law is the most applicable authority. Legalizing same-sex marriage would provide equal
rights for LGBTQ+ individuals, aligning with Republic Act No. 10918 which promotes the
dignity and rights of all people. While religion and cultural beliefs are important the law
should focus on fairness and equality for everyone.
III. Create a visual representation (e.g., graphic organizer, mind map, or infographic) that illustrates
how Subjectivism, Psychological Egoism, and Ethical Egoism each approach the question of
“self-interest” in human behavior and ethics
