3.2 Properties
The surface and interior of the finished parts must be free of flaws and processing defects such as
flow lines, voids, cracks, etc. Sink marks at the base of ribs and stiffenings are permissible only if
they do not adversely affect the part's function or appearance.

3.3 Processing and finished part properties

It must be possible to process the molded parts properly, i.e., according to the assembly working
conditions.

3.4 Material
See section 5.1.
Polyethylene, heat- and UV-stabilized.

3.5 Manufacturing
Injection molding

3.6 Color
As per drawing.

3.7 Marking as per VDA 260

> PE <

3.8 Marking
As per drawing.

3.9 Evaluation of the measurement results

The required numerical values apply to each individual measurement.

No. Property Unit Requirement

5 Hardness Shore D 65 ±3
as per DIN ISO 7619-1
(requirement applies only if the ball inden‐
tation hardness cannot be measured)
6 Elevated-temperature behavior The parts must not exhibit any changes in shape that
see section 5.3 adversely affect their function. The surface must not
change, e.g., form cracks.
7 Low-temperature behavior The parts must remain fully functional and be free of
24 h of aging of at least one complete fin‐ damage at low temperatures. The parts must not have
ished part at (-40 ±1) °C any cracks or other damage either at low temperatures
or after heating up to 23 ±2 °C.
8 Colorimetric analysis Without complaints
as per VW 50190
(requirement applies only to visible parts in
the vehicle interior or if specified in the
drawing).
9 Weather resistance
9.1 Resistance to open-air weathering Without complaints
as per VW 50185 and section 5.4
9.2 Behavior in sun test Brightness difference delta L compared to as-received
as per PV 1323 condition ≤ 2 as per gray-scale level ≥ 4 as per
(requirement applies only to visible parts DIN EN 20105-A02.

9.3.2 For areas exposed to direct solar radiation
comparison to the as-received condition, e.g., color
(e.g., door waist rail)
changes, chalking, and/or cracking.
5 exposure periods
Gray-scale level ≥ 4 as per DIN EN 20105-A02
9.3.3 For areas exposed to maximum solar radi‐
ation (e.g., rear shelf)
10 exposure periods
10 Flammability As per TL 1010
(if required in the drawing and/or release)

5 Notes on testing

5.1 Material
The identity test is performed with infrared spectroscopy.
Page 4
TL 533: 2016-08

5.2 Ball indentation hardness

The measurements must be performed on at least three 20 mm × 20 mm specimens (two meas‐
urements per specimen). The grain on specimens prepared from molded parts with grain on one
side must be removed using a surface grinding machine. The flat surface created in this way
serves as the contact surface. The measurement is taken on the untreated reverse side.

5.3 High-temperature behavior

Heat aging test as per DIN 53497, method B.
Aging temperature (80 ±1) °C; aging period 48 h.

5.4 Resistance to open-air weathering

Testing for resistance to open-air weathering must be performed with the parts installed in the vehi‐
cle at the specified Volkswagen testing grounds for open-air weathering. For orientation purposes
and for risk assessment of visible finished parts on the vehicle exterior, the simulation methods as
per PV 3929 and PV 3930 must be applied, each over a 1-year cycle. For all other finished parts,
environmental cycle tests and aging tests at high temperature must be conducted with parameters
adapted to the location/function.
