Conflict - the tension or problem in the story.
- It is the challenge that the main character or characters need to face.
- It may also be something that went wrong in the story that needs to be fixed.
Resolution - the solution to the problem.
- It is how the characters go about in solving the problem or challenge they
are facing.
- It is also how the characters address the issue in the story.
A conflict is usually introduced at the start of the story. A good conflict helps the
reader to be engaged and interested in the story.
The resolution helps the reader have closure in the story. It usually occurs at the end
of the story.
Different Types of Conflict in a Story
1. Character vs. character. The main character clashes with another character. The
main character or hero (protagonist) clashes with a villain (antagonist) in the story.
2. Character vs. nature. The main character fights to endure or overcome forces of
nature. He/ She faces a natural force that is beyond his/ her control.
3. Character vs. self. The main character struggles with his or her own beliefs or ideas.
He/She battles himself/ herself. He/ She faces a fear or should make a difficult
decision.
4. Character vs. society. The main character challenges a law, tradition, or institution.
He/ She may face unfairness within a group or society.

What are
different types of verbs?
1. Regular Action Verbs - Action words with the past tense form are made when added -
d or -ed.
2. Irregular Action Verbs - Action words with the past tense form is another form of the
word.
3. Linking Verbs - A verb that acts as a link or connection between two words (noun or
adjective) in the predicate of a sentence. Linking verbs do not have a particular
action.
4. Transitive Verbs - Verbs accompanied by a direct object. A direct object is a noun,
pronoun, or noun phrase that is the receiver of the verb.
5. Intransitive Verbs - Verbs that do not need to have a direct object in the sentence.

9. Everyone should go to the Philippine Arena.
10. Philippine Arena is one of the world's largest indoor arenas, capable of seating
50,000 fans in a
fully enclosed building.
Real stories are based on facts and opinion that may happen in real life. They can
be stories about a person's life which is called an autobiography, if written by the
person him/herself, or it may be a biography, a story written about a person's life
that is done by another person. Real stories may also be a narrative of events that
happened in real life. Say, stories about persons who experienced a disaster such as
a typhoon.
Fantasy stories are based on a writer's imagination and cannot happen in real life.
These stories may have some Science facts but written in way that is entertaining.
These are called Science fiction. Fiction refers to stories that describe imaginary
events and people. Fantasy stories may also be about imaginary animals like fables
and fairy tales. It may also be about stories of super heroes.

Predicting outcomes is the ability to guess what will happen next.
You may predict outcomes by doing the following:
look at the information given

relate your experiences with the character
analyze the character’s thoughts and feelings
find for context clues and hidden meanings
make comparisons between events.
A sentence is a group of words that has a complete thought. It talks about one topic or
idea only. It is used to communicate ideas or our feelings.
