The Man Who Wrote Letters to the Moon (Romance, Longing, Magical Realism)
For years, Julian wrote letters to the moon.
Every night, he sat by his window, pouring his thoughts onto paper—his dreams, his regrets, his
love for someone he had lost long ago. He folded each letter neatly, tied them to paper lanterns,
and let them drift into the sky.
People in the town thought he was strange. “Who are you writing to?” they asked.
He never answered.
One night, as he sent off another lantern, something unexpected happened. A single letter floated
down from the sky. Trembling, he unfolded it.
Julian, I have been waiting for you to see me again.
His breath caught. He knew that handwriting. It belonged to Elise, the woman he had loved, the
woman who had vanished years ago without a trace.
Heart pounding, he sent another letter, asking: Where are you?
The next night, another response came: Meet me where we said goodbye.
Julian rushed to the old bridge where he and Elise had last stood together. The night was silent,
the moon watching. Then, a figure stepped from the shadows.
It was Elise, unchanged, as if time had never touched her.
“I never left,” she whispered. “I was waiting in the space between dreams, between reality and
memory. And your letters brought me back.”
Julian took her hand, warmth meeting warmth, and for the first time in years, he felt whole.
