Detailed Lesson Plan in Math
Mathematics 9
Quarter 4
I. Learning Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
a. Define the properties of a parallelogram,
b. apply the properties to solve for the missing angles, sides and other quantities involving
parallelograms, and
c. appreciate the importance of geometric properties in real-life application.
II. Subject Matter
A. Topic: Using Properties to Find the Measures of Angles, Sides, and Other Quantities Involving
Parallelograms

III. Learning Procedures
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
A. PREPARATION
Opening Prayer
May I ask everyone to pause for a while and feel the
presence of the Lord for the opening Prayer.
One student will lead the prayer.

Checking of Attendance
Is there anyone who is absent today class?
None, Ma’am!
B. MOTIVATION
Before we begin with our discussion for today, we
will have an activity titled, “Match and Connect”.
Here are the mechanics of the activity:
I. Index cards written with conditions and properties
that make a quadrilateral a parallelogram will be
given to each student. (Half with parallelogram
conditions and half with corresponding definitions.)
II. The students must then find the person with the
matching property. Once paired, they must explain
their match to the class.
III. The pair with the correct definition wins.
Are you ready?
Yes Ma’am!
The game will start.
C. PRESENTATION
Let’s give everyone a round of applause. The
matches and definitions are all correct. From that
activity, what do you think will be our lesson for
today?
Ma’am, the lesson for today revolves around
properties of parallelogram.
That is correct! We will be using these properties to

find measures of angles, sides and other quantities
involving a parallelogram. However, before delving
into our topic, let us first read the learning objectives
for today. Everyone, please read:
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able
to:
a. Define the properties of a parallelogram,
b. apply the properties to solve for the missing
angles, sides and other quantities involving
parallelograms, and
c. appreciate the importance of geometric
properties in real-life application.
That is correct! Let’s have a review on the different
conditions that make a quadrilateral a parallelogram.
Ma’am the conditions that makes a quadrilateral a
parallelogram are as follows:
I. A quadrilateral is a parallelogram if its
opposite sides are congruent.
II. A quadrilateral is a parallelogram if both pairs
of opposite angles are congruent
III. A quadrilateral is a parallelogram if any pair
of consecutive angles are supplementary.
IV. A quadrilateral is a parallelogram if the
diagonals bisect each other.
V. A quadrilateral is a parallelogram if each
diagonal divides the parallelogram into two
congruent triangles.
That’s all true! Now, let us try and apply these
properties to find the missing quantities of some
given problems.
1. ABCD is a parallelogram. If AB=3 x and

DC =12cm , find the value of x.
Condition: A quadrilateral is a parallelogram if its
opposite sides are congruent.
AB≅ DC
3 x=12
x=4
2. given is a parallelogram ABCD. Find the value of
y and the lengths of the given side.
Condition: A quadrilateral is a parallelogram if its
opposite sides are congruent.
A D ≅ BC
5 y−20=3 y +10
5 y−3 y=20+10
2 y=3 0
y=15
Substitution:
3 y +10
3(15) + 10
45 + 10 = 55 units
3. MATH is a parallelogram. If m ∠ D=62⁰ , find the
measures of the 3 other angles.

II. A quadrilateral is a parallelogram if any pair of
consecutive angles are supplementary.

m ∠ A=118⁰
m ∠ D+ m∠ C=180⁰

62 +m ∠ C=180⁰
m ∠ C=118⁰
4. MATH is a parallelogram. Its diagonals bisect
each other at point E. If A E=65 cm, find CE and
A C.
Condition: A quadrilateral is a parallelogram if the
diagonals bisect each other.
Relationship: AE≅ CE and AE+CE= AC
AE≅ CE

D. Generalization Ma’am, using the different properties to analyze and
solve a given problem involving parallelograms.
Those are absolutely correct! Again, let’s review
what we tackled today. What are those?
E. Application
Very good! Remember those conditions involving a Ma’am learning about the different conditions is

of what we tackled. What do you think is its angles and other quantities within a parallelogram.

Goodbye, Ma’am!
That is indeed correct! It seems that you did
understand our topic today. That ends our lesson for
today. Goodbye, class!
