1. What are some common file extensions and the programs normally associated with

2. How are application files handled differently than data files when you double-click on
one? It automatically opens the files with the app associated with it

3. Why might you need to change a file association on your computer? You may not have
the application it is trying to run on

4. How do you change file associations on Windows? select "Open with" and then "Choose
another app"

5. How do you change file associations on Mac OS? application. In Finder, just locate one
example file with a type that you want to change. Then, right-click or Control-click on
that file and select "Get Info". This will open an information screen for that file. You will
need to find the "Open with:" section as shown below.

2. What is the difference between uploading and downloading? How do you use these
processes to synchronize files on different devices? The process of moving a file from a
local computer to remote storage is called uploading. Transferring a file from remote
storage to a local device is called downloading

3. What are some common features of cloud storage services? You can create files and
folders in the cloud just like you would on a local storage device.
You can access files in your cloud from any computer.
You can share files in your cloud with other people.

4. What are some advantages of cloud storage? Backups, sharing between computers,
sharing between people, free space(limited)

5. What are some disadvantages of cloud storage? Security, online connectivity, privacy,
cost, speed
6. How does cloud storage compare to local storage? When might you use each option?
cloud storage if...You want a cheap way to back up files, You want to share files between
other computers, You want to share files with other people

local storage for files that...You want to keep completely private, You want to use while offline,
You want to access with the fastest speed

7. How do Windows users access Microsoft OneDrive? Where can they go online to access
their files remotely? Run the Windows File Explorer app and look for the cloud symbol
near the top-left corner. All files and folders listed under that cloud symbol are stored
online in OneDrive

8. How do Mac OS users access iCloud? Where can they go online to access their files
remotely? you can access these files through the Finder application. When you open
that application, you should see a link on the left for "iCloud". Clicking on that link will
display any files or folders that are on your personal iCloud

9. How do Chromebook users access Google Drive? Where can they go online to access
their files remotely? through your Files application. When you run that app, look on the
left side for a list of file storage locations. In addition to the storage on your computer, it
will list your Google Drive where you will be able to browse any saved files in your online
storage and any files that others have shared with your Google account

10. Why might you want to ZIP a file or folder you are planning to move across a network or
to cloud storage? The experience will be quicker and easier! You can unzip the file
contents later
