Making and Responding to Suggestions
In conversation, we often need to suggest ideas or respond to others'
suggestions. Using the right phrases helps keep the conversation polite and
engaging.
Phrases:
Making Suggestions:
How about… (+ing)? How about going to the park this
weekend?
Why don’t we…? Why don’t we try a new restaurant?
Maybe we could… Maybe we could study together for the test.
I think we should… I think we should leave early to avoid traffic.
Responding to Suggestions:
Agreeing:
That sounds like a great idea!
Good suggestion!
I’d love to!
Disagreeing (Politely):
I’m not sure about that. How about something else?
That could be difficult. Maybe we could try something different?
I don’t think that’s a good idea because…
