Entry Explanation
Riddler Henchman glitch in “Apoisonous Appointment”: In the third area of
the level (the laboratory) a lot of goons will appear while the Attracto machine
creates a door, but if you stay fighting for a while a Riddler Henchman Will
reamin glitched in the horizontal pipelines.
Early Penguin Goon design: In the early version of the game Penguin Goon
wears a blue shirt with horizontal stripes that was later removed from the final
version, although we can found this pattern in the Character Customizer.
Superman existence: The data of the Batcomputer confirms the existence of
Superman in that universe.
Albert Einstein: In “The Joker´s Masterpiece” after going up the stairs after
Scarecrow uses security bypass access ability we can found an Albert Einstein
painting, this being the only reference to a real person in the game along with
the Michael Jackson´s sculpture in “In the Dark Night”
Iceberg Lounge: In the game several famous places from the Batman universe
appear in the game but they are not directly named, such as ACE Chemicals in
“Joker´s Home Turf”, Wayne Tech in “An Enterprising Theft” or Haly´s Circus in
“Little Fun at the Big Top” and “A Surprise for the Commisioner”, so it is posible
that the building we see in “Arctic World” is the Iceberg Lounge.
Missing vegetable car: In one of the early trailers of the game we can see for
a few seconds what it seems to be “Green Fingers” and some pieces that
create a vegetable car that later was replaced by the one we see in the final
version of the level.
Charles Martinet laugh: The laugh of the enemy known as Jack in the Box is
the Charles Martinet laugh (the voice of Super Mario), which is taken from a
sound source. The file is called “HUMAN, LAUGH - COMICAL LAUGH: MALE”,
which was also used in Super Mario 64 for Bowser and Boo´s laugh.
Pac-Man reference: In the Arkham Asylum bonus level after the first area there
is a labyrinth where several Freeze Girls chase you without you being able to
attack them, but they will start to run away if you get tinto any vehicle while you
have to collect all the coins. This design is very reminiscent of the classic Pac-
Man arcade game.
The Riddler speaking: As happens in the rest Lego games of that time, the
characters do not speak, but rather make intelligible sounds, however in two
cutscenes we can hear Riddler say “Ta-Daa!”, so this is the closest a character
like this has ever spoken.
Killer Croc and Mad Hatter designs based on “Knightfall”: Like many
villains designs are based on BTAS, Killer Croc and Mad Hatter designs are
based on the comic “Knightfall”.
Missing Joker helicopter cutscene: There is a short forgotten cutscene that
can only be seen on the Batcomputer in some versions of the game in which
the camera is put in Batman´s point of view seeing the Joker helicopter
breaking the cathedral windows.

Doctor Who reference: In “An Enterprising Theft” at the beginning of the level
if we play in Free Play and break a glass door with Batman Sonic Suit we can
build a dog-shaped robot, which is very similar to fictional robot known as K-9
from Doctor Who.
Impossible minikit: In “Under the City” there exists a hidden minikit in the first
room of the level where is the hostage and it does actually add to your total for
the level, but you only get it if you use a bug near a trash can.
Unused black Police officer: There is a missing black Police officer in the
Official Game Guide which also appears in some of the early trailers of the
game.
Alternative Mad Hatter concept art: In the Official Game Guide Mad Hatter
have a different concept art than the one he had in the final version.
Wayne Manor bonus level beta version: Continuing again with the Official
Game Guide, at the end of the guide there are screenshots of the bonus level
that show a different model than what we got in the final game. This prototype is
different because it shows a more striking color palette.
The most interesting part is that, just as we mentioned before, Arkham bonus
level is based on Pac-Man, but the prototype of Wayne Manor bonus leve lis
actually based on the world of Super Mario with several references, such as the
platforms that fall, the pipes through which you enter and exit the level or the 2D
view. Finally in the last room of the level the floor pattern may be inspired by the
Green Hill Zone in Sonic 1, in addition the mechanic in that room consists of
getting on a floating vehicle and hooking metal balls, which is very reminiscent
of Dr. Eggman in the first boss fight.
Alternative area in “The Lure of the Night”: Originally there was a different
area in “The Lure of the Night” that appears in the Official Game Guide and
showed a different view than what was included in the final version.
Mime Goon concept art: The character known as Mime Goon, who is also
based on Joker´s henchmen in Batman 1989, has his own concept art, which is
strange because he is not a main character and does not even appear in any
level, furthermore that his concept art has a different style from the rest of the
characters, as if it were a prototype.
Batman 1989 shot in “A Surprise for the Commisioner”: In the second room
of “A Surprise for the Commisioner” there is a roller coaster with platforms, on
which we jump to continue the level, but if we look at the background of the
stage we will see that it is a shot from Batman 1989, specifically at the
beginning of the movie when a shot of Gotham is shown. This is best
appreciated if we go to the top of the roller coaster in Free Play.
Weird purple hat in Character Customizer:
Changed identities: In the DS version the game refers to The Riddler as
Edward Nashton instead of Edward Nygma and Clayface as Matthew Matt D.
Hagen instead of Basil Karlo, this is because in the comics Riddler´s real name
is actually Edward Nashton, but he later changed it to Edward Nygma. In the
case of Clayface is because there are more tan one Clayface and Basil Karlo
was the first to appear.
