Title:

Creation of an Online Scholarship Application System for Students in San Marcelino

Problem Context:

We interview the local students, educational providers in San Marcelino revealed that the current
scholarship application process is time-consuming, fragmented, and often confusing. Students struggle
to find relevant scholarship opportunities, keep track of deadlines, and submit all required documents.
Meanwhile, scholarship providers face challenges in managing large volumes of applications and
efficiently evaluating candidates. As a result, deserving students often miss opportunities, and
scholarship providers may struggle to effectively connect with applicants.

Solution:

The development of an online scholarship application system for San Marcelino will enable students to
easily access a comprehensive list of available scholarships, track their application progress, and receive
notifications about important deadlines and updates. For scholarship providers, the system will allow
streamlined application management, document submission, and selection processes. This solution aims
to increase scholarship participation, reduce administrative workload, and ensure that financial aid
reaches the students who need it most.

Description:

As of January 31, 2025, through consultations with local students, and scholarship providers in San
Marcelino, it became evident that the current scholarship application system is highly manual, requiring
physical submissions and lacking a centralized platform for managing applications. The proposed system
will offer a user-friendly online interface where students can create profiles, search for relevant
scholarships based on their needs and qualifications, and submit all necessary documentation.
Scholarship providers will have access to a dashboard to review applications, filter candidates, and send
notifications regarding selection or additional requirements. This online platform will not only simplify
the application process for students but also improve the efficiency of scholarship administration.

By implementing this system, the municipal government and educational institutions in San Marcelino
will enhance transparency, streamline the scholarship distribution process, and improve access to
educational opportunities for students, particularly those from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.
Additionally, the platform can be integrated with a feedback mechanism to assess the effectiveness of
the system and refine it further.

Beneficiary:

Students in San Marcelino, scholarship providers (local schools, government agencies, and NGOs), and
educational institutions.
