customs and lifestyles using tango. It also known as “the music of immigrants”
Tango became one of the popular dances in Paris and New York in 1913 and soon it became
also popular in other countries like North America and europe. Tango was seen as unethical or
hindi kaaya aya para sa iba dahil ito daw ay malaswa, clingy at parang flirty tignan.
Dame la lata (gimme my tin)
This song was inspired by the story. It begins in a nightclub, and by discussing how money was
dealt with, it depicts the lives of prostitutes, pimps( alam nyo ba ano yung pimps) pimps is
known as smugglers, and brothel management and brothel is the house of the prostitution or
kung san nagaganap yung ganong bagay. Tin Plates or metal tokens were employed in the
prostitution scene in Buenos Aires at the time the song was composed. Brothel owners took
money from customers and provided it to prostitutes, who then gave it to their pimps. Prostitutes
would only receive a fraction of their money back in exchange for tinplates. The method was
designed to keep prostitutes from accessing their earnings, preventing them from gaining
independence.
