Ignition temperature - temperature class/Maintenance o explosion protection
IGNITION TEMPERATURE - TEMPERATURE CLASS Examples o the categorisation o gases and vapours in temperature classes
and explosion protection subgroups.
The ignition temperature is in uenced by various actors such as size, shape, T1 T2 T3 T4 T5 T6
type and composition o a sur ace. In IEC 79-4, IEC, CENELEC and other Acetalde-

Explosion-protected electric motors are used in industrial plants with a potentially CONSTRUCTION

The ollowing table lists the bearings used in the di erent motors. The
bearings last about 20.000 hours in 4, 6 and 8 pole motors i the loads 4KTC 63 to 132 4KTC 160 to 250
do not exceed the values indicated in the tables on pages 12 and 13. Only
the latest and most innovative bearings o known producers have been
used in our motors. On customer request we equip the motors with other
bearings (depends on the respective construction!). The rotors are standard
constructions and xed on the D-end ( rame size 71 mm to 250 mm) and
NDE-end ( rame size 280 mm to 315 mm).

Vibrations
The noise level o electric motors is below the limits prescribed by the IEC 60034-9 recommendation or an-cooled (blow-over) electric machines. The rotors o
electric motors are dynamically balanced with installed an and 1/2 key. Vibration amplitude corresponds to grade A according to IEC 60034-14 (ISO 2373-N grade).

Terminal box and terminals or supply cable
Terminal box
The terminal box is tted to the top o the motor with the cable entering rom the an end o the motor. It can be repositioned in steps o 90° to 180° to suit the
application. The motors with direct starting are equipped with 3 connection terminals. 6 connection terminals are tted to Star-Delta, two speed and dual voltage
machines. The electric motors with sizes 71 to 132 inclusive and Ex e terminal boxes have 6 additional connection terminals or PTC sensors, heaters etc. The
motors with Ex d terminal boxes are also equipped with 6 connection terminals. Exception is the 71 motor with only 4 connection terminals. Each terminal box
has one connection terminal or the protective conductor. Ex d terminal boxes include a threaded entry to accept Ex d cable glands (see table below). Ex d thread
reducers or adaptors can be included as an option or other thread sizes and thread orms.
Increased sa ety terminal boxes incl de Ex e cable glands in accordance with EN 60079-0, and EN 60079-7. The empty entries are tted with suitably certi ed
stopping plugs. Additional entries can only be made in our actory under strict quality procedures. The Ex d terminal may receive additional threaded holes (NPT,
ISO 7/1) by means o adapters. One threaded hole M20 x 1.5 is provided on the Ex d terminal boxes or the thermal protection and or heaters. Ex e terminal
boxes have an additional cable gland M20 x 1.5 or cable diameters o 6 to 12 mm.

Arrangements/Explosion protection and certi cations
The types o electric motors and their symbols are prescribed by the IEC 60034-7, EN 60034-7 standards. Motors are manu actured ollowing the basic IM B3,
IM B5 and IM B14 types. Table 4 shows the symbols and mounting arrangements or the standard models manu actured by our company. IM B3 type motors can
also operate in IM B6, IM B7 and IM B8 mounting positions.
