Roundup Ready
Developed by
Robert Fraley, Stephen Rogers, and Robert Horsch
This groundbreaking invention introduced genetically modified (GM)
crops that were resistant to the herbicide glyphosate, commonly
known as Roundup.
Roundup Ready technology allowed farmers to grow crops like
soybeans, corn, and cotton that were genetically modified to
withstand the application of glyphosate herbicides. This innovation
revolutionized agriculture by making weed control more efficient,
reducing the need for other, often more environmentally harmful
herbicides, and increasing crop yields.
