Aramid Fiber Packing

HV-220 Aramid Filament with PTFE Packing (NA)

Construction: HV-220 is an interlock braided packing using

aramid yarn treated with PTFE suspensoid. The packing is also
lubricated with a silicon-based compound for quick and easy
break-in.

Application: It is an extremely durable packing able to withstand

granular and abrasive applications. It is recommended for service

in superheated steam, slurries, petroleum derivatives, solvents
and liquified gases. It is commonly used in centrifugal, rotary and
reciprocating pumps, agitators and mixers, especially in the
paper, steel, petroleum and chemical industries, and in sewage
treatment plants.

HV-221 Spun Aramid with PTFE Packing (NA)

Construction: HV-221 is an interlock braid, using Spun aramid

carded yarns, treated individually with PTFE suspensoid. The
packing is also lubricated with silicone based compound for quick
and easy break-in. The use of spun aramid fibers produces a
softer and very tough packing, but one that is less abrasive than
packings braided with aramid filaments.

Applications: It is a durable packing able to withstand granular

and abrasive applications. It is recommended for service in

HV-230A-1 PTFE packing with Aramid corners (NA)

Construction: This is an interlock braided packing, using pure

PTFE yarn, reinforced with aramid corners. The yarns are
pretreated with PTFE dispersion, plus a break-in lubricant to
reduce the coefficient of friction, as well as the frictional heat
created by high shaft speeds.

Application: with its unique combination of PTFE and aramid

fibers, is dimensionally stable, non-contaminating, has excellent
Service Limits: lubricating and running characteristics, and because of the
aramid corners, is very wear resistant. It handles acids, alkalies,
and a broad range of chemicals. It is well suited for service in
rotary and reciprocating pumps, mixers, agitators and reactors,
especially where abrasive wear is a problem.

HV-230A-2 PTFE/Graphite packing with Aramid

corners (NA)

Construction: This packing is an interlock braid of PTFE/graphite

yarn, reinforced with high strength aramid yarn corners G2 yarn is
formed from expanded PTFE in which fine particles of graphite
have been encapsulated resulting packing provides good
chemical resistance and heat dissipation plus anti-extrusion
strength.
Application: The packing can handle a broad range of chemicals
in the 3-11 pH range. It is used in paper mill stock pumps,
Service Limits: agitators, or any service where high strength and good lubricating
qualities are needed.

Braided Packing

HV-3100 Ramie Fiber with PTFE Packing (NA)

Construction: The packing is manufactured from the finest
quality ramie yarns with PTFE suspensoid in a square plait
construction. An additional break-in lubricant is added to
minimize shaft wear and to allow for expansion during the
break-in period.

Application: It is a well lubricated, medium-hard packing with

very low frictional characteristics, which assures minimal shaft
wear. The ramie yarn is rot and mildew resistant, making the
packing ideal for marine use, handling cold water, salt water
and cold oils. In the marine industry, it is recommended for
sealing stern tube and rudder post stuffing boxes. HV-3100
packing is also used for certain pump and valve applications in
the pulp and paper, water/wastewater, and mining industries.

Carbon Yarn Packing

HV-250-1 Carbon with PTFE and graphite impregnated Packing (NA)

Construction: The packing is manufactured from pure carbon yarn, which is interlock
braided and impregnated with PTFE and graphite particles which fill voids, block
leakage, and act as a break-in lubricant. The end product has a low coefficient of
friction and tends to wear more evenly than most braided packing.

Application: It handles water, steam, boiler feed, and aqueous solutions of acids and
Service Limits: alkalis. In service, it seats quickly and does not require extensive break-in adjustments.
It is commonly used for high speed pumps, blowers, dryers, high temperature valves,
and furnace gasket.

HV-250-2 Carbon with PTFE impregnated Packing (NA)

Construction: This packing is an interlock braid of carbon fibers which are carefully
impregnated with PTFE. The resulting packing is very tough, resists wear, has
excellent chemical resistance and prevents contamination.

Application: The packing can handle chemicals over the entire 0-14 pH range except
for strong oxidizers. It is very popular in the pulp and paper industry because it is
especially designed for applications involving strong caustics, acids, bleaches, slurries,
and services where contamination cannot be tolerated. GH-250-2 is commonly used in

Flexible Graphite Packing

HV-110 Flexible Graphite Packing (NA)
Construction: This packing is manufactured from high purity
flexible graphite that is expanded and formed into a braided yarn
and then braided without binders or wire reinforcement. It also
contains corrosion inhibitor to prevent the electrical-chemical
reaction. The finished product retains all the inherent benefits of
flexible graphite: heat resistance, chemical inertness, low friction,
self lubrication, and conforms readily.

Application: The outstanding properties of HV-110 make it a

truly multi-service packing capable of a wide variety of uses
throughout a plant. It may be used in valves, pumps, expansion
joints, mixers and agitators in the hostile environments of
Service Limits: hydrocarbon processing, pulp and paper, power generation,
metal-working and other industries where effective sealing is
vital.

HV-1108 Valve Stem Packing (NA)

Construction: The packing is manufactured from high purity

yarn and then braided in a unique construction with wire
reinforcement. It also contains corrosion inhibitor to prevent the
electrical-chemical reaction. The finished product retains all the
inherent benefits of flexible graphite; while the wire reinforcement
provides greater mechanical strength.

Application: This packing is particularly suited for use in high

temperature, high pressure steam service. In addition, it can also
handle most chemicals, acids and alkalis. It is excellent for use in
steam turbines, high temperature motor-actuated valves and for

HV-1900 Valve Stem Packing (NA)

Construction: his packing is braided over the core of HV-
1900 packing, using high temperature fiber reinforced with
Inconel wire braided the jacket, then coated with graphite and
corrosion inhibitor. Result is a dense, long-lived, non-hardening
packing, is readily die-formed and is easily removed. It also
contains corrosion inhibitor to prevent the electrical-chemical
reaction.
Service Limits:
Application: The packing is especially designed for super-critical
fossil fuel power plants and for all ranges of steam valves.
Excellent on valves of steam turbines; automatic tube blowers;
high temperature, motor-actuated slide valves; and on all general
high pressure valving.

PTFE Packing
HV-120 Braided PTFE/Graphite Packing (NA)

Construction: Interlock braid, using PTFE/graphite yarn and a high

temperature break-in lubricant yarn is formed from expanded PTFE
in which fine particles of pure graphite have been encapsulated.
The resulting packing combines the chemical resistance of PTFE
with the heat dissipation characteristics of graphite, thus allowing
much higher shaft speeds than conventional PTFE packing.

Application: It is chemically inert over the entire 0-14 pH range

with these exceptions: molten alkali metals, flourides, aleum,
fuming nitric acid, aqua regia, and other strong oxidizing
agents. GH-120 is an excellent general service and corrosive
Service Limits: service packing. It is commonly used in pumps, valves, rotating and
reciprocating shafts, mixers and agitators, and is especially
designed for services involving surface speeds and temperatures
higher than those that can be handled by pure PTFE packing.

HV-130 Braided Pure PTFE Packing Lubricated (NA)

Construction: It is a interlock braided packing manufactured from

pure PTFE yarns pretreated with PTFE dispersion, plus a break-in

Application: This is a dimensionally stable packing, yet relatively

soft and pliable, which has excellent lubricating and running
characteristics. It handles all acids, alkalis, and most chemicals,

HV-240 Braided Pure PTFE Packing Dry (NA)

Construction: It is a firm, high density interlock braided packing

manufactured from pure PTFE filaments pretreated with PTFE
dispersion, but contains no other lubricants. The PTFE dispersion
provides a low friction surface finish and prevents leakage through
the braid.

Service Limits: Application: It is similar to HV-130, but is especially suited for

oxygen service and other services where lubricants other than
PTFE can not be tolerated. GH-240 is commonly used in valves
and lower shaft speed applications. It is resistant to most
chemicals, aggressive fluids, gases and solvents, with the
exception of molten alkali metals.

Synthetic Packing
HV-F400 General Service, Synthetic/PTFE Packing
(NA)
Construction: HV-F400 is an interlock braid using synthetic
yarns thoroughly impregnated with PTFE suspensoid. The
finished packing is again coated with PTFE dispersion and a
break-in lubricant is added to reduce shaft wear and eliminate
glazing at start up.

Application: It is an excellent multi-service packing that finds

a wide variety of uses throughout a plant. It handles steam,
water, solvents, oils, mild acids and alkalies, and a broad
range of other chemicals. It is white in color and will not
discolor the flow media. Recommended for use in centrifugal,
rotary and reciprocating pumps and also mixers, agitators,
and expansion joints. HV-F401 packing is a non-lubricated
version of HV-F400.

HV-F400SC Synthetic/PTFE with Silicon Core

Packing (NA)
Construction: This special packing combines a resilient silicone
rubber core with synthetic yarns which is thoroughly
impregnated with PTFE suspensoid and silicon lubricant.

Application: The elastic rubber core gives the packing better

memory, allowing it to withstand radial shaft motion and vibration
while maintaining excellent leakage control with minimal gland
adjustments. It is designed for use in general service applications
such as agitators, blenders, mixers, or any other applications that
undergo shaft deflection in normal operating conditions. HV-
Service Limits: F401SC packing is a non-lubricated version of HV-F400SC.

HV-280 General Service, Synthetic/Graphite

Packing (NA)
Construction: HV-280 is an interlock braid using synthetic
yarns thoroughly impregnated with a special petroleum based
lubricant and graphite.
Application: It is a dense, but flexible general service packing
that adapts well to worn or scored shafts often found in older
equipment. It assures an excellent seal against steam, brine,
oil, and mild acids and alkalies. This packing is well-suited for
applications in rotary and centrifugal pumps and some valves.
