INDUSTRY SUPERVISED TRAINING GUIDELINES

I. To qualify for the Industry Supervised Training Program, one must:

1. Have satisfactorily completed Practicum I, II, and III.


2. Have no academic deficiency aside from concurrent subjects enrolled.
3. Be clear of school accountabilities, financial and other.
4. Be physically fit by the accompanied Medical Certificate certified by a
government physician.
a. ECG
b. HEPA Test for Food Technology
c. Others
5. Accomplish the school waiver.
6. Accomplish the school clearance.
7. Have enrolled in the Practicum/OJT program.

II. To qualify for the Company Assignment, one must:

1. Qualify for Industry Training Programs and Policies.


2. Qualify to the company requirements.
3. Be officially Accepted and given job assignments.

III. To satisfactory Comply with the internship Program, one must:

1. Accomplish the 240 hours on or before ________________ cut-off time.


2. Submit a certificate of training on or before __________________ cut-off
time. (Failure to do so shall mean exclusion from the list of candidates for
graduation.)
3. Have a performance rating of at least 5.0 (Satisfactory).
4. Submit the training booklet as part of the academic requirement.
5. Obey the Company Policy, rules and regulations.
6. Uphold the image of the College and the internship Program.
7. Not abandon or change his/her official assignment unless given official
permission/sanction by proper authorities. Violation of the above-
mentioned compliance requirements may be grounds for unaccredited
Practicum/ OJT activity and disciplinary action.

TRAINING AGREEMENT

This AGREEMENT entered this 24th day of JUNE between AURORA STATE
COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY with business address at BRGY. ZABALI, BALER,
AURORA represented by ACER JOHN V. FRIGINAL hereinafter referred to as the Host
Training Establishment

-and-

XYRELL KAITH S. PIS-ONG, of legal age and residing at BRGY. BAYANIHAN, MARIA
AURORA, AURORA hereinafter referred to as the student-Intern,

WITNESSETH:

THAT the primary objectives of this AGREEMENT are for the student-intern to
gain practical skills experience, knowledge, and insights into various aspects of Civil
Engineering Technology while actively working within the Host Training Establishment
and to apply theoretical knowledge acquired during their Bachelor in Industrial
Technology program. Specifically, students will be able to learn about real work, safety,
and innovation while being directly involved in the real world of work. This internship will
expose the student intern to problem-solving skills, and adaptability to real-time
challenges that will enhance quick thinking and application of their acquired knowledge.

THAT the Student-intern agrees to apply himself/herself diligently and faithfully to


work in the department/unit during the period of the internship in conformity with the
standard approved for the aforementioned Host Training Establishment and makes parts
of this AGREEMENT, and under the following terms and conditions:

1. Period of Internship 6 weeks (or a total of 240 hours)

2. Date of Internship June 24 – August 2, 2024

3. Approximate date of Completion of August 2, 2024

THAT the student-intern shall agree to exercise the following roles and responsibilities:

1. The student-intern shall comply with all the necessary requirements in


accordance with the Student Internship Program Plan prior to the
deployment of the latter in the Internship program.
2. The student-intern shall work the equivalent of eight (8) hours a day on
weekdays during his/her internship. Time spent on related theoretical
instruction shall be considered as hour training.
3. Actively participate in all aspects of the Internship program and complete
assigned tasks and projects.
4. Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and guidelines, including those
related to confidentiality, data security, and workplace conduct.
5. Seek guidance and feedback from supervisors and mentors to enhance
learning and performance.
6. Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions with colleagues, clients, and
other stakeholders.
7. Continuously update knowledge and skills related to Civil Engineering
Technology through self-study and participation in relevant training
sessions.

THAT the Host Training Establishment (HTE) shall agree to exercise the
following roles and responsibilities:

1. Provide comprehensive training and orientation to familiarize the student-


intern with the Host Training Establishment (HTE) policies, procedures, and
infrastructure.
2. Assign a dedicated supervisor or mentor with expertise in Civil Engineering
Technology to guide and support the student-intern throughout the
internship program.
3. Offer meaningful tasks and projects that align with the student-intern’s
learning objectives and provide opportunities for skill development.
4. Ensure access to necessary resources and tools for the student-intern to
carry out assigned tasks effectively.
5. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment where the student-
intern can contribute ideas and learn from experienced professionals.
6. Any Student-intern who fails to perform satisfactorily within any stages of
his internship may be given, at the discretion of the department/unit, a
period of one week within which to improve his/her performance. If within
this period, the student-intern concerned fails to show any improvement
he/she should be dropped from the internship.
7. The student-intern who can complete the required internship period shall be
issued a certificate of completion.

8. The student shall be considered a Student-intern not an employee and shall


have access to technical information concerning their area of specialization
to the said department/unit.

THAT, a copy of this AGREEMENT shall be furnished without cost to the


student-intern and the Aurora State College of Technology, Baler, Aurora.

THAT, this AGREEMENT including the terms and conditions herein shall be held
strictly confidential and that no portion or part hereof may be reproduced or be revealed
to any personnel or entity other than that of the signatories herein or their authorized
representative.

THAT, this AGREEMENT shall take effect on the date of the start of the
internship by Student-intern.

In WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties have hereunto affixed their signature this

Introduction

In the dynamic landscape of technology and infrastructure, the Bachelor of

Industrial Technology in Civil Engineering Technology (BIT CET) stands out as a beacon

of innovation and interdisciplinary excellence. This advanced program acts as a crucial

bridge connecting the digital sphere with the physical world, preparing aspiring

professionals to tackle the complex challenges prevalent in modern civil engineering

practices.

This program aims to equip students for their future careers by familiarizing them

with the industrial conditions relevant to their specialization. Through work immersion,

students gain practical experience in social interactions within a professional setting,

enhancing their readiness for post-graduation challenges. This program is instrumental

in facilitating the acquisition of course-relevant skills, enriching the students' educational

journey.

Practicum is a cooperative education that aims to achieve work experience. It is

one of how Department faculty members can observe and evaluate the skills of the

student. This is an opportunity to apply their knowledge and practice their skills in actual

settings. This practicum training program is done under the supervision of a faculty

member. The number of hours required for this practicum training is 240 hours.

The BIT-CET curriculum is meticulously designed to establish a robust

groundwork in IT and civil engineering principles. Within this collaborative environment,

individuals recognize that the essence of CET's strength lies not solely in technical

expertise but also in teamwork and the unified pursuit of a common goal.

Orientation

This year, the Work Immersion/Practicum program was initiated by the

instructors of the Bachelor in Industrial Technology (BIT) department to familiarize us

with the work environment on June 21, 2024. During the orientation, they delineated the

practicum process, provided guidance on necessary preparations, and outlined the

prerequisites essential for the commencement of our immersion experience.

Insight

Practicum holds paramount significance for a Bachelor in Industrial Technology

(BIT) student as it represents a crucial step towards attaining broader knowledge and

honing individual skills. It becomes evident that fostering a harmonious team dynamic is

essential for achieving excellence in our tasks. The practicum ended up with a lot of

unforgettable and meaningful experiences that we can use in our future careers for

professional growth. It equips us with valuable insights on effective communication with

others, shaping our abilities for future career endeavors.

Work immersion serves as a pivotal learning opportunity where students actively

engage with authentic work settings, enabling them to garner firsthand knowledge and

skills relevant to their desired professions. This immersive experience affords students

the chance to participate in genuine work environments, contributing meaningfully while

honing their expertise. In this practicum, we delve into the importance of observation and

insight during work immersion.

Observation during work immersion also helps students develop a better

understanding of the expectations and requirements of their chosen career paths. This

exposure enables them to recognize the essential skills and competencies vital for

success in their respective fields.

The initial year of college holds significant transformative potential for students,

particularly those pursuing the Bachelor of Industrial Technology in Civil Engineering

Technology (BIT-CET) program. Through immersive work experiences, students have

the opportunity to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical applications, facilitating a

seamless transition from college to the professional sphere.

Developing Essential Skill

The first year at BIT CET is meticulously planned to provide students with a

comprehensive skill set necessary for their future professional endeavors. This

immersive experience provides a practical platform for developing these skills:

Practical Skills:

Students in work immersion programs have various responsibilities to fulfill. Of

course, each job role is different, and you will encounter different software systems and

tools depending on your chosen profession, basic IT skills are expected of all new hires.

Analytical Skills:

Immersion training presents students with the challenge of engaging in critical

and creative thinking to tackle intricate industrial issues. Proficiency in analytical skills is

paramount as it empowers individuals to navigate diverse challenges, formulate decisive

solutions, and implement actionable plans to address them.

Problem Encountered

I am grateful to have this kind of curriculum because already experienced how to

be a good employee in a short time in real work and then the attribute of this for my skill.

In my first year of immersion, problems could not be avoided in terms of any work-

related training.

Some of the difficulties I have encountered are the lack of materials and tools to

be used while doing our task. It may be our choice to have an immersion in ASCOT but

most of the tasks we did were not related to our major. The plan after the visitation of

NEUST faculties was to learn basics in sketch-up but due to some circumstances such

as the CADD room being under renovation. In such a short time we can learn some

skills that we can apply to our course, but some sort of problem cannot be solved

immediately.

Solutions

As a student trainee, I need to do my best being the practitioner like you need to

accept the experience of all in your place and understand the situation of your

workplace. I need to be more initiative in doing tasks, and also to engage in some work

such as helping or observing in doing the BIT logo. If I want to experience tasks that are

related to my major, I should be working off-campus to gain skills. I should be willing or

volunteer on some tasks even if I’m not the one in charge.

Suggestion/ Recommendations

As an intern and student of Aurora State Colleges of Technology and am taking

of Bachelor of Industrial Technology Major in Civil Engineering Technology, I suggest

that before mid-year for immersion, they have prepared designated tasks for the

students that are related to their course.

Tools and other needs should also be upgraded and provided so the students

can use them. If also possible, the department will have a partnership with TESDA for us

to enroll in related to our major such as Carpentry, Plumbing, and EIM.
