Summary

Dust of Snow written by the famous poet Robert Frost is a beautiful and
motivating poem set on a wintry day. It tells us how our view of perceiving
things changes our minds and puts a greater impact on our lives. In the first
stanza, the poet mentions a crow, snow and a hemlock tree. The crow is an
unlikely choice of bird, not pleasing to look at, is a symbol of a bad omen.
The hemlock tree, a poisonous tree with white flowers generally stands for
sorrow. Both describe the depressive and sorrowful mood of the poet. Since
the poet was not in a good mood, he sees nature in the same way and
describes nature's bitter side to express his feelings. The only glimmer of
hope is the snow which is a symbol of purity. The movement of the crow
makes some of the snow particles or dust fall on the poet.

In the second stanza, this falling of snow has a tremendous effect on the
poet. It is as if he was awakened from his thoughts and realized that he had
wasted his time being in sorrowful and should utilise the rest of the day to do
something useful. His depression and sadness are washed away by the light
shower of snow dust. His heart is filled with happiness, and he gets ready to
use his time in a good manner and positive spirit.

By enjoying the simple moments of life, we can get rid of our day-to-day
problems and worries. This also helps us in living a happy and healthy life.
