times
Student Name: TARA Brown
Checklist for discussion with master teacher or instructional supervisor:
1. Safety…
…concern(s) I worried about or became apparent:
…solution(s) I used before and/or during implementation:
2.Behavior
• What are behaviors that are typical for children this age?
• Which of these behaviors can be ignored? Which need to be addressed?
• What did you do/say to set group expectations?
• What strategies did you use to address these behaviors in a developmentally appropriate and respectful way?
3. Conversations with children.I think that my conversations with the children went really well and asking
them different questions and letting them reply when they had time.
4. Dealing with the unexpected. I think that having two classroom merge together is the unexpected but I
dealt with it,
5. Preparedness (materials and teachable content) not just worms! I had all my materials right by my side so
if the children messed one paint I had a backup.
6. Communication with other adults. I asked alma if she could go get jj since he went in the classroom and
just communicate her help with him.
7. Scanning and rotating (as appropriate) I was in an area that I could see all the other children.
8. Effectiveness of interactions (CLASS and Bloom’s Taxonomy) That asking the children questions I did that.
Complete your reflection for the questions/prompts below.
Respond to these BEFORE watching your video.
Resources Used:
• Why did you think this particular activity was a good idea based on your reflection? I think it was a good
idea because its something the children don't do.
• Evaluate whether the research you did beforehand was sufficient. What else do you need to know for a
more successful implementation/plan next time? i think the things i did before hand was sufficient. I think
just having more practice and knowing what I'm doing.
• After submitting your plan/implementing, what will you look for in the resource in the future to ensure
the activity is developmentally appropriate for the children you are planning for/teaching? I have looked
at Pinterest and googled and i think just knowing my children and knowing what they like.
Opportunities for documenting children during implementation: I couldn't really document while doing the
activity but i did observe and then write about it after.
Describe what the children actually did during the activity. So the children were able to drop the ball in the
paint and drop it into a box and then pick it up and roll it around to see what it did.
How successful were children in meeting the objectives you established? What do you attribute this to/
Why do you think this is the case? I think my chicken were successful in meeting them because they were
able to move the box. I think so because they were able to do it and understand what is going on.
What were you confident about while implementing the activity? I think I was confident on just doing this
activity because it was fun and i tested it before hand.
What were you nervous about while implementing the activity? How did you work through this? I was ner-
vous for implementing just because I had JJ there that day and i didn't know how he would react to it. I think i
just worked though it by telling him ill call you name when its our turn.
What was unexpected about the implementation? Why? Not having the master teacher there and having
guppies joint us.
What would you do differently next time? Why? I think i would have change what i said to the children.
What were some of the teachable moments/unexpected concepts or conversations that you came across
and how did you handle it? I think a teachable moment was having jj come and not having to wait turns so i
told him i would call him when it’s his turn. I think I handle it professionally.
Describe the feedback given to you by the Master Teacher? So i didn't really get any feedback from the mas-
ter teacher because she wasn't there but i did get some feedback from the other teacher that was helping me
said that she really liked my idea.
Respond to the question(s) below AFTER watching your video:
Video Reflection: As you watch the video, keep the following prompts in mind then respond to the re-
quired prompt and at least two from the “Pick 2” list below:
Required: After watching the video, what did you do well AND what would you do differently next time?
I think that I did very well with having boundaries so only two children at a time. I think what I would have
done differently is having the dryer rack place somewhere else because i think it was in my way.
Pick two (2):
1. Describe what you noticed from watching your video. I notice that I was at their level, I adapted to
the children, I was really prepared with my materials and backups. I was really confident doing this
activity.
2. What did you notice about how the children were engaging or how their development was being
affected by your interactions? I notice that Emilia was really into it and and was answering my ques-
tions. I also notice that Evelyn from the guppies really enjoyed it and did it twice. I notice that every-
one that came over was really engage and enjoyed it.
