As long as

'As long as' often means the same as 'if' or 'only if'. We often use the present tense after 'as long as'

when we're talking about the future, in the same way as with other subordinate clauses of time. We

sometimes use the present perfect tense after 'as long as' to show that one future thing must happen

before another future thing.

• You can have chocolate as long as you promise to eat all your vegetables.

• She can go to Cambridge as long as she has passed her exams.
