Description

During my clinical practicum, I had the opportunity to work with a patient who was diagnosed
with pneumonia. The patient was experiencing severe respiratory distress and required
immediate attention. I worked closely with the nursing staff and the patient's physician to
develop and implement a plan of care.

Feelings

I felt anxious and overwhelmed during this experience. I was worried that I would not be able
to provide the best possible care for the patient. However, as I worked with the patient and the
healthcare team, I began to feel more confident and focused.

Evaluation

This experience was both challenging and rewarding. On the positive side, I was able to work
effectively with the healthcare team to develop and implement a plan of care. I also gained
experience in assessing and managing patients with respiratory conditions. On the negative
side, I felt anxious and overwhelmed at times, which made it difficult for me to provide the best
possible care.

Analysis
Upon reflection, I realize that my anxiety and overwhelm were due to my lack of experience in
working with patients with respiratory conditions. I also realize that I relied too heavily on
others to provide guidance and support, rather than taking the initiative to seek out resources
and information on my own.

Conclusion

This experience has taught me the importance of seeking out resources and information to
support my learning and practice. I have also learned the value of taking initiative and being
proactive in seeking out guidance and support. In the future, I will strive to be more confident
and self-assured in my practice, and to seek out opportunities to learn and grow.

Action Plan

- Seek out additional education and training on respiratory conditions

- Practice assessing and managing patients with respiratory conditions in a simulated


environment

- Seek out feedback and guidance from experienced healthcare professionals
