Judgment Criteria

 The competition will be on individual basis. Each participant will be given


maximum four minutes to perform. If an item exceeds
5 -30 seconds deduct 1 mark
30 sec-1 minute deduct 2 marks
For more than 1 minute deduct 3 marks.
For exceeding l ‘/1 minutes deduct 4 marks
 Recorded or sequenced songs will not be accepted.
 Choreographic presentation (if any) is not a part of the contest.
Marking Criteria:
Theoretical Correctness of Raga: Please assess the notes applicable in the compositions
of Raga -Vadi, Samvadi and combination of special notes required in each performance.
Skill: Overall performance analyzing the ability of the contestant.
Rhythm: Contestant remains in beat and rhythmic pattern
Expression: Rendering of items with feelings and involvement.
Presentation: Confidence, body language and liaison with the audience
Pronunciation: The words of the text are pronounced correctly considering the form of
music.

(Solo & Choir Singing Competition)

The Singing Competition will test the musical prowess of young students and, at the same time, provide
entertainment. It will also give a platform to aspiring singers to display and hone their talent. This
competition will only have two categories:

 English Songs (choir / solo performance pre-junior section).


 Solo performance as well as value songs in choir for junior section.
 Urdu Songs(Solo Performance for Senior section only).
Success Criteria

Assessment will be undertaken by a panel of school musicians. The judge's decision will be final. The
following rubric will be used for assessing each performance:

 Pitch (30): Accuracy


 Rhythm (30): The beat is secure and the rhythm is accurate for the particular song.
 Tone quality (10): Consistent, clear and centred throughout the normal singing range.
 Expression and Style (20): Performance with a creative nuance and melodic direction.
 Diction (10): Articulated clearly so that the song's lyrics are understandable.
Rules and Guidelines

 Only English & Urdu songs will be included in the competition.


 Dress code: House Uniform
 Duration of the song: Maximum 3-5 minutes.
 Each participant can perform only one song.
 There will be no retakes during a song/session.
 Only live singing will be allowed.
 Our musicians will be available to accompany each participant. However, we suggest that you bring
your own songs for better coordination of live performances.
 The organizers will provide musical instruments.
 Popular films songs are not permitted except ghazals of renowned poets
