HOMESCHOOLING – BENEFITS AND DRAWBACKS

In this day and age, everything in our lives also has two sides. These are the positive side and
the negative side. It is true when considering the topic of homeschooling. It has become an
abroad issue for the general public. Some people believe that homeschooling has many
advantages while others think that it could also have some negative effects. My essay will
shed light on both sides of this problem.
On the one hand, homeschooling has brought many benefits to humans, especially to children.
First of all, it allows parents to protect their children to avoid them from bullying at school.
Some students had stress and became more and more pessimistic due to this reason.
Homeschooling will help children feel comfortable and safe if they live in the education and
love of their relatives. Secondly, it helps them to be more proactive in planning for children’s
study programs. Parents can study and play with them, teach them some of subjects that schools
do not have such as a new language, cultural heritages of many countries around the world and
so on. Therefore, children can study things which they passionate about without any pressures
to keep up with another students who study at school.
Irrespective of the aforementioned benefits of homeschooling, I am convinced that its
drawbacks should also be taken into consideration. The first disadvantageous point is family’s
financial problem. Parents have to choose to work for a part time job or stay at home everyday
to teach their children. If they need to buy many school supplies, it will cost amount of money.
Therefore, maybe it can create parents’ financial pressure. Another drawback is that
homeschooling takes parents too much time teaching their children so they cannot have enough
time to relax and do other things. Moreover, if they are not teachers, they will have to spend
time looking for teaching methods to make sure that their children will receive the best
educational conditions.
In summary, while the tendency of homeschooling is not without several merits, I would also
contend that the negative aspects of this development are actually in plain sight.
