Hypothesis
When citric acid (lemon juice) reacts
with baking soda, a chemical
reaction takes place,producing a

Procedure
1.We poured some lemon juiceinto a
clear glass.
2.We added a spoonful of baking
soda to the lemon juice.
3. We observed the bubbling and
fizzing as the reaction occurred.
4. We waited until the fizzing
stopped , showing the reaction was
complete.
5. We gently heated the remaining
liquid to allow the water to
evaporate.
6. After some time, I noticed a white
residue left at the bottom of the
glass.
Observation
1. As soon as baking soda was added
to lemon juice, bubbling and fizzing
began.
2. Gas was released, and the liquid
turned cloudy.
3. After heating, a white salt-like
substance remained at the bottom
Result
The reaction between citric acid in
lemon juice and baking soda formed
sodium citrate (a type of salt) along
with carbon dioxide gas and water
Conclusion
This experiment shows that a salt
can be formed through the reaction
between an acid(citric acid) and a
base (baking soda). the visible
fizzing was due to carbon dioxide
gas, and the remaining substance
after evaporation was the salt
formed-sodium citrate .
