When attaching the ears to the hat, only stitch along part of the front of the ear and
bottom. This allows it to fold a little bit forward when it’s worn. I placed a white piece
of yarn over the area that was sewn to hat. I also included a picture of the back of the
hat so you can see how much of the ear was left open.

Collars:
Stitch
Round Description
Count
1 Using Collar Color. Ch 57, in the 3rd Ch from hook *2 DC, DC in the 66
next 4. Repeat * across. Fasten off and weave in ends.
To make the outer collar I glued the dark shield onto the light grey felt and cut around
the dark shield about an 1/8 of an inch away.
Glue or stitch the symbol to the center of hat.
Any clothing item for a child worn around the neck should be supervised to prevent
choking/strangulation. I suggest using a light weight Velcro on the collars to close
them. This way if a child tugs at the collar it will release.
Glue 1 inch of Velcro to each end of collar.
Using a hole punch, make a hole at the top center of the dog tag. Loop grey yarn at
equal lengths through the hole three times and wrap around just above the dog tag and
tie a knot. Cut off extra ends. If your hole punch doesn’t cut through the felt it will
make an indentation that you can then finish cutting out with scissors.
Dog Tags:
Once the dog tag is cut out, glue it to the light grey felt. Cut the outer tag approx. 1/8
inch bigger than the inner tag. I didn’t use a template for the outer shield, but estimated
it by using the color shield as a guide cutting 1/8 inch away.
