• 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
• 1½ tsp baking powder
• 1½ tsp baking soda
• 1 tsp salt

• 3½ cups (440g) powdered sugar
• ½ cup (45g) unsweetened cocoa powder
• ½ tsp salt
• 2 tsp vanilla extract
• ¼ cup (60ml) heavy cream (more if needed)
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch (23cm) round cake
pans.
2. Make the cake batter:
o In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder,
baking soda, and salt.
o Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
o Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin). Divide evenly between the prepared
pans.
3. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto wire racks to cool
completely.
4. Make the frosting:
o Beat butter until creamy.
o Gradually add powdered sugar, cocoa, and salt, mixing on low.
o Stir in vanilla and cream, then beat on high until light and fluffy. Add more
cream for a softer consistency.
5. Assemble the cake:
o Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread frosting on top.
o Top with the second layer and frost the top and sides.
o Optional: Decorate with chocolate shavings, sprinkles, or berries.
Enjoy!
