the Lost Phone

Emma, Jake, and Mia are best friends. They are all 14 years old and study in the same class at
Riverside High School. Emma is a tall girl with long, curly brown hair and green eyes. She is
always full of energy but sometimes forgets things. Jake is short and has messy black hair and
dark brown eyes. He loves technology and always tries to find solutions to problems. Mia, on the
other hand, is medium height, with straight blonde hair and blue eyes. She is very observant and
always pays attention to details.
Today is Friday, and everyone is excited because the weekend is near. The cafeteria is full of
students talking and laughing. Emma, Jake, and Mia sit together, as always. They eat their lunch
and talk about their favorite shows.
After lunch, the bell rings, and the three friends walk to their next class. As they reach the lockers,
Emma takes out her bag and looks for her phone. But when she opens it, she stops.
"Oh no!" she says. "My phone is not in my bag!"
Jake looks surprised. "Are you sure? Maybe you left it in the classroom."
Mia shakes her head. "No, I remember. You used it during lunch. You showed us a funny video!"
Emma’s face turns red. "You’re right! But where is it now?"
The three friends run back to the cafeteria. They look under the tables, near the food counter, and
even in the trash. But the phone is not there.
Emma starts to worry. "What if someone took it?" she asks. "My mom is going to be so angry!"
"Let’s ask Mrs. Carter," Mia suggests. Mrs. Carter is the cafeteria supervisor, a tall woman with
short black hair and glasses. She is always strict, but she helps students when they have
problems.
They find Mrs. Carter near the kitchen. "Excuse me, Mrs. Carter," Emma says. "Did you see a pink
phone on one of the tables?"
Mrs. Carter thinks for a moment. "No, I don’t think so. But maybe someone took it to the lost and
found office."
"Let’s go!" Jake says. They run through the hallway and enter the office. A kind woman, Mrs.
Lewis, sits behind a desk. She is an elderly lady with gray hair and a warm smile. She looks up
and greets them.
"Hello, kids. Can I help you?" she asks.
"Yes!" Emma says. "I lost my phone. It’s pink, and it has a blue case."
Before Mrs. Lewis can answer, another student walks in. It’s Daniel, a boy from their class. He is
tall, with short brown hair and freckles. He is very friendly but a little shy. He holds something in his
hand.
"Hey, Emma! Is this your phone?" he asks.
Emma’s eyes open wide. "Yes! Where did you find it?"
"It was on the floor near the lockers," Daniel says. "I was going to take it to the lost and found."
Emma takes the phone and sighs with relief. "Thank you so much, Daniel!"
Mrs. Lewis smiles. "You are lucky! Always check your bag before leaving a room."
As they walk out of the office, Mia grins. "You should put a GPS tracker on that phone, Emma!"
Jake laughs. "Or keep it in your pocket next time!"
Emma giggles. "I know, I know. I promise to be more careful. And to say thank you, I’m buying you
all ice cream after school!"
The four friends walk together, happy and relieved.
