How do they differ from borrowings in terms of origin and usage?
2. Sources and origins of borrowings: Why does English have so many borrowed
words? What are the main historical periods of borrowing?
3. Latin borrowings: What are the main periods of Latin influence on English?
Provide examples of words borrowed during each period.
4. French borrowings: How did the Norman Conquest influence the English
language? What are the key semantic fields influenced by French borrowings?
5. Borrowings from Greek, Scandinavian, German, Italian, and other languages:
What were the main reasons for borrowing from these languages? Provide
