Past simple tense and Past continous tense
1. Past simple tense:
1.1. Cấu trúc:
Tobe Động từ thường
S + were/was + O S + V(2/ed) + O
S + weren’t/wasn’t + O S + didn’t + V-inf + O
Were/was + S + O? Did + S + V-inf + O?
1.2. Cách dùng:
- Hành động đã xảy ra trong quá khứ, đã chấm dứt.
Ex: I did my homework last night.
- Sự kiện chính trong một câu chuyện
Ex: Mary read a few pages of her book and went to bed.
- Diễn tả một hành động xen vào một hành động khác trong quá khứ
Ex: When I was reading a book, the phone rang.
- Một hành động đã xảy ra liên tiếp trong suốt một khoảng thời gian trong quá khứ
nhưng hiện tại đã hoàn toàn chấm dứt.
Ex: She worked as a teacher for six years before her marriage.
1.3. Dấu hiệu:
Yesterday, the day before, in the past, ago, last, …
2. Past continous tense:
2.1. Công thức:
S + were/was + V-ing + O
S + weren’t/wasn’t + V-ing + O
Were/Was + V-ing + O?/ Wh- + were/was + S + V-ing + O?
2.2. Cách dùng:
- Mô tả một hành động xảy ra trong quá khứ tại một thời điểm xác định.
Ex: I was reading a good book at 10 p.m last night.
- Mô tả bối cảnh của câu chuyện.
Ex: It was raining heavily outside. Mary read a few pages of her book and went to bed.
- Diễn tả hai hay nhiều hành động đang xảy ra đồng thời trong quá khứ.
Ex: I was reading while he was listening to music.
- Diễn tả một hành động được lặp đi lặp lại trong quá khứ khiến người khác cảm thấy
khó chịu.
Ex: He was always forgetting his key when he went out.
2.3. Dấu hiệu:
At that time, at this time, in the past
At + giờ + thời gian trong quá khứ (at 6 p.m yesterday)
In + năm (in 1992)
