SAMPLE QUESTION

You are Rahul/Ritika of Modern School ,New Delhi participating in a debate competition. Write a
debate for or against the motion. In 120-150 words. ‘Social Media is a curse in a large population like
ours’.

Good morning, respected Principal, teachers, and dear friends. I, Ritika, stand before you to express my
views against the motion on the topic 'Social media is a curse in a large population like ours.'

To my worthy opponents, I address this question: Despite knowing the disadvantages, would any of you
forgo direct connectivity with a loved one or a friend that social media platforms offer? In times of
lockdown, for instance, social media has assured millions that they are not alone. For educators, social
media has emerged as a new teaching methodology. It saves teachers from spending hours explaining
simple lessons to inattentive pupils. Social media captures their attention and engages them for extended
periods.

In the business world, social media has proven a great equalizer, providing a platform for everyone
regardless of status or education. Manufacturers can reach customers directly. Important government
messages reach our doorsteps thanks to social media. When traveling, necessary precautions are listed
online. Besides the above points, social media serves as an information tool. Pupils learn more on this
platform than in conventional classrooms, making it a future tool for quality education.

Thank you.
