Job Purpose, Responsibilities & Complexities
Objective/Purpose of the Job Role:
The Senior Engineer (Road and Transport) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of highway engineering, ensuring the effective
planning, design, construction, and maintenance of road infrastructure. The role also includes managing and coordinating
transportation logistics, supervising road construction activities, and ensuring the efficient operation of all transport machinery and
vehicles.
Role Complexity:
The role requires high mental and physical effort as it involves technical expertise, strategic planning, supervision of personnel,
and coordination of road and transport activities. The Senior Engineer must have an in-depth understanding of highway
engineering principles, project management, and heavy equipment operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Road Engineering and Construction Management
    •    Oversee the planning, design, and construction of highways, roads, and related infrastructure.
    •    Ensure roadworks meet engineering standards, safety regulations, and project timelines.
    •    Conduct site inspections, surveys, and feasibility assessments for road projects.
    •    Provide technical expertise in road grading, drainage, compaction, and surfacing techniques.
    •    Identify and resolve technical issues related to road construction and maintenance.
    •    Recommend improvements and innovations in road design and materials.
Transport and Machinery Operations
    •    Supervise and manage all machine operators and truck drivers.
    •    Oversee the movement of materials, including sharp sand, laterite, gravel, and asphalt.
    •    Ensure proper usage, maintenance, and safety compliance of heavy-duty machines and trucks.
    •    Monitor fleet operations and ensure efficient scheduling and deployment of transport resources.
Personnel and Project Supervision
    •    Lead, train, and mentor the road and transport team to enhance productivity and skill development.
    •    Conduct regular briefings and safety meetings with machine operators and drivers.
    •    Ensure compliance with workplace safety policies and road transport regulations.
    •    Assess team performance and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
Reporting and Compliance
    •    Maintain detailed records of roadwork progress, material usage, and fleet operations.
    •    Prepare reports on road construction status, transportation logistics, and project challenges.
    •    Ensure all operations comply with environmental and safety regulations.
    •    Liaise with project stakeholders, including government agencies, contractors, and suppliers.
Other Responsibilities
    •    Collaborate with other departments to optimize road and transport operations.
    •    Recommend and implement cost-effective solutions for road and transport challenges.
    •    Any other duties assigned by the Project Manager.

Minimum Qualification & Experience Requirement
Educational / Professional                                               Experience
