General Description
RP- BAR- 42: is a Barite product used as a weighing additive for oil and gas drilling which meet the
API 13 A sec. 7 Specifications requirements for a drilling fluid Barite. it is the most common weight
additive for drilling fluids, it increases the hydrostatic pressure of the slurry and provides
compensation for the high-pressure areas encountered during drilling, it is the mainly source for
adjusting the density of the mud as the basic drilling grade "weighing material".
RP- BAR- 42 increases the hydrostatic response of the drilling mud and ensures that it is in a
balancing position for the high-pressure formations encountered during drilling. the softness of the
RP- BAR- 42 Powder also allows it to function as a surface and prevent damage to the drill bit
during drilling. The American petroleum institute (API) has established specifications for use in
drilling.
Composition
RP- BAR- 42: is ahigh grade Barium sulphate (BaSO4)

Mixing

Add RP- BAR- 42 through the high shear mixer or jet hopper so that entire circulating volume is at uniform
weight. To control artesian flow at surface, always keep the hole full of weighted mud. Starting with 100 gallons
of mud at a weight of 9 lbs./gal, 134 lbs. of Barite will raise the weight to 10 lbs./gal and increase the volume to
104 gallons.
Toxicity and handling
Bioassay information is available upon request. Handle as an industrial chemical, wearing protective
equipment and observing the precautions described in the barite safety data sheet.
Packaging
RP- BAR- 42 is packaged in big bags 1.5 tons, or as Customer’s request.
