POTASSIUM PERMANGANATE MOUTHWASH

FORMULA:

o 1 in 4000 ml solution means 1g of solute is present in 4000 ml i.e., 4000

ml of solution has 1000 mg of KMno4.
Therefore, 60 ml of solution should contains

 1000/4000 X 60 = 15 mg of KMno4

o Since the sensitivity of the balance is 100mg, 15 mg can’t be weighed

accurately using the balance. So, a concentrate solution is prepared from
which a volume equivalent to 15 mg is measured out and diluted.
o 100 mg of KMno4 is weighed and dissolved in water up to 100 ml
o 15ml of solution will contain 15mg of KMno 4. Hence 15ml of the
solution is measured and made up to 60 ml using purified water to
obtain 60 ml of 1 in 4000 solution of KMno4.
