REFLECTION

As an 11th-grade HUMSS student, exploring Empowerment

technology has been a transformative and reflective experience. Each
tool we learned has opened up new ways for me to perform well both in
group projects and personal tasks. In fact, I can already see how these
skills will be useful in the future, especially during college and when
pursuing my chosen life and career.

Learning Microsoft Word was like unlocking a new level of

communication, productivity, and competence. Truly, writing letters
might seem straightforward, but it’s really about how to present myself
clearly and professionally. This skill is invaluable for writing letters to
most of us, especially when applying for opportunities, or even crafting a
resume. It is more than just typing—it’s about making sure my messages
come across the way I intend.

Then there’s PowerPoint, wherein adding hyperlinks to my slides

has been a revelation of my creativity. It turns a basic presentation into
an interactive or engaging one. For instance, linking to additional
resources or related articles makes my presentations more informative
but not boring at all. This feature helps me create presentations that not
only convey my ideas but also invite my audience to explore and engage
further, making my work stand out more.

I was also surprised by how useful clipart can be. I used to think of
it as just a decorative tool, but now I can see how it enhanced my
projects. Whether it’s jazzing up a presentation or making a document
less text-heavy, clipart helps make my work visually appealing and easier
to understand. It’s a simple way to grab attention and convey information
more effectively.

Mail merge was another highlight. The ability to personalize

multiple messages at once feels like a huge time-saver. For instance,
being able to send personalized invitations or “thank-you notes” quickly
is incredibly practical. This skill will definitely help me stay organized
and maintain a personal touch in my communications, whether for school
events or future projects in my life and career.

Finally, building a website with Wix was perhaps the most exciting
part. It felt like a creative adventure where I could bring my ideas to life
online. Learning how to design a website—from choosing a layout to
managing content—has shown me how to create a purposive digital
space. This experience is not only fun but also incredibly useful, whether
for personal projects, future portfolios, or just exploring my interests in
web design.
Collectively, these software applications and websites have been
more than just learning tools—but a reflective way to discover how
technology helps in the teaching and learning process. In the end, as I
continue my studies and prepare for future challenges, I feel more
confident and capable, knowing that I have these skills from these
educational technologies.
