Reason for referral : To assess her current level of Intellectual Functioning (IQ) and her
academic problem.

BEHAVIOURAL OBSERVATIONS
She was adequately kempt and was adequately dressed. She was cooperative and her attention could be
aroused and could be sustained for required amount of time. Rapport could be established before
starting the formal assessment. She was making eye to eye contact. Her expressive and receptive
speech was found to be adequate. Her general comprehension was found to be adequate. She was
motivated for the assessment.
TEST FINDINGS
BKT
On BKT she gets a Mental Age (MA) of 7 years 2 months with corresponding prorated Intelligence
Quotient (Prorated IQ) of 95. This indicates that her current level of intellectual functioning is under
the category of Average level of Intellectual functioning.
NIMHANS Index for Specific Learning Disabilities (Level1)
Visual Discrimination Test: In the Visual Discrimination Test, she was able to discriminate the visual
stimuli. There were no errors noticed. She was spontaneous in discriminating the stimuli.
Impression: Normal
Visual Memory: In the Visual Memory Test she had little difficulty to name the object in the sequence.
Impression: Inadequate
Auditory discrimination: There were errors noticed while discriminating the auditory sounds which is
similar in sound but spelled differently (11 errors out of 20). Example: Tin – thin, mob- mop, bus-
buzz, kill- till.
Impression: Difficulty in auditory discrimination.
Auditory memory: In the auditory Memory Test her score was adequate, there was no errors observed.
Impression: Adequate
Verbal Language Expression: In Verbal Language Expression Test her performance was adequate.
She was able to name and define the object accurately appropriate to her age.
Impression: Average.
Visual –Motor Skills: In the Visual – Motor task her performance was adequate.
Impression: Normal
Writing and reading: In the writing and reading test there were few errors noticed. She has difficulty
in writing and reading.
Impression: Difficulty
Numbers: In the test of naming, writing numbers there were few errors.
Impression: Inadequate.
SUMMARY:
Based on the test findings, it can be inferred that client has Average Intellectual ability. Findings of
Learning Disability Test suggest that she has difficulty in auditory discrimination, writing and reading.
She is at risk of Learning Disability.
SUGGESTIONS
Psycho-education to her family regarding her current level of intellectual functioning.
The child is at risk of Learning Disability, for which early intervention is recommended.
She could be benefited from one to one teaching method
She needs intervention for auditory discrimination task.
Teach the concepts like before and after, big and small, size, shape etc.
Use multisensory teaching method.
