Types of Brass Vessels
Molds
• The casting process starts by preparation
of the mold.
• A mixture of clay, cow dung and recycled
clay from the previously used and broken
molds are mixed together.
Honeybee Wax: It is used for
making the model and can be
collected and reused.
The furnace is constructed all
around the mold without allowing
any gap around it and it is placed
slightly elevated from ground in
order to set fire below the mold
Scrap Metal: Used to heat
into molten metal.
• It is the mix of some metals
Crucibles: These are made
of special type of mud to
withstand very high
temperature; they are used
to carry molten metal.
Bricks: They are used to
construct a furnace around
the mold to heat it.
Metal pieces are being
burnt.

covering with sand all
around firmly. Only the
holes for pouring the
molten metal and vent holes
are spared and rest are
covered completely with the

still hot in order to avoid
sudden cooling and
breakage of the casting.

it to mark the
position of the
mold.
After the alloy
solidifies in the
mold it is taken out
from ground and
the clay is broken
using hammers.
Chisels are also
used for this
purpose if the
product is a fine
detailed one having
minute details.
The casting is
obtained but is
unfinished and
further processing
is required.
