The God of Silence

Jimric Antros R. Jimenez

What’s with the silence? Silence is often considered a void, not expressing any sounds, or
the absence of noise. Silence is one of the hardest experiences to be with. Imagine a man needs
an answer, but here comes the silence of life. During his downfall, he needs the noise of
intervention, but the silence is too loud. However, in philosophical terms, silence will always be
the companion of noise; there is always an answer to the void of silence.

People do often feel silence when they experience the suffering. They often ask the
existence of God. Do God really exist? Do God really care? Is God blind or deaf? People could
not answer or digest on their “whys”. For instance, people could ask “why is this happening in
my life?”, “why do I suffer this much?”, “My God, have you forgotten me? Why do you not
speak to me? Where are you? Why? Why? Why?”. People in fact and in reality, could not really
surpass with such phenomena, for the reason that the world is imperfect even so as with them.
People could not surpass what’s beyond suffering. The only that can surpass and understand such
Phenomena is the Divine. However, there is still a question, if God knows everything, why He
let his people suffer? And the Silence goes along this way. People could not even rid their
skeptical thoughts when it comes to suffering because God remains silent.

But the lesson with here goes deeper. God remains in silence because He wants his
people to be more faithful with Him, He wants his people to become more stronger amidst
hardships, He wants his people to transcend more. Even the notion of evil will continue to exist
for the reason that goodness is always there. There is no evil if there is no goodness. Do God
really allow the notion of evil? Though the notion of St. Augustine of evil is a privation of good,
but in philosophical extent, evil will always there, it comes along the nature. God knows that
there is evil, but the claim of here is that, A man will not be able to transcend without
experiencing any product of evil. To know about God, people should understand “the bond
between experiencing good and evil”. With this. It makes people to realize more that good and
evil are part of imperfection attributing to God’s Perfection.

God shows his silence loudly, because He wants His people to listen more to this silence.
That suffering will always be part of imperfection of the reality. He really loves His people but
He needs to push them more, He wants that His people should understand by listening to His
voice. There is always loudness, there is always voice, and there is always wisdom behind the
silence of God. Because God wants his people to stay in silence too when the world is too cruel,
He wants his people to be reconciled what’s really happening , and He wants his people to pray
more and to yearn more to His existence.
The Title shows that God is the God of Silence because he listens. Because it is the
reality, if we wanted to listen , we must stay in silent first before speaking up. Silence will
always be the companion of noise of God’s love, that in every silence. the people will be able to
receive the answer they want if they could understand that in every silence there is always an
answer. They need to stop and listen and let God.
